Great Six Shot Blaster
Nerf has had hits and misses when it comes to their blasters over the last few years. I'd say this one is a hit, mostly. The grip is very comfortable, the action is smooth enough my 5yo can operate it, and it shoots pretty straight. The Fortnight gimic is take or leave. Unless you are doing any kind of cosplay, the barrel extension isn't necessary. Overall fun to play with.

Strong value, but could use improvements
I bought this on a whim for myself on discount, and I was pleasantly surprised by how far Nerf has come since the days of my childhood. Despite the solid construction and nostalgia factor, there are some features to this gun that I could do without; and there is an imperfection with the hammer that I keep noticing when I use it. First off, this Nerf gun feels durable. The chunky plastic makes it feel ergonomic in my large adult hands. This comes at a price, however, as about 30% of the plastic on the revolver frame is purely cosmetic. It feels like more of a small rifle than a sidearm due to all this extra bulk, especially with the barrel attachment when it is on. Speaking of the barrel attachment, that too is purely cosmetic. The nerf gun comes with this long tubular piece, like a faux muzzle silencer. I prefer shooting without it. One's firing experience really isn't affected by adding on this optional chunky tube to the end of the barrel. Does it look cool though? Heck yeah, and maybe that's the whole point. If I wall mounted this gun, it would have to have the barrel attachment. The bulk, for its downsides, is well distributed. I felt very comfortable firing at distances of up to 20 yards down the hallway, both with and without the barrel attachment. The cylinder on this gun does not pop out - it is fixed. For better or worse, this does remove some of the realism to the gunplay. Moreover, you won't be able to use a speed loader as a result of this, because in this fixed position most of the cylinder is shrouded. This means you reload one at a time with the gun. Onto the hammer imperfection. I wear adult large gloves; my hands should be too big, if any complaints should arise out of that, for this toy. Instead, my hands actually feel too small for this toy. This is due to the neutral position of the hammer, which must be pulled for the gun to fire. When holding this gun, I can't comfortably reach the hammer with my thumb to cock it. I am left either half-pulling it and misfiring due to the significant pounds of force behind it, or I have to use my other hand. The gun cannot be fired single action (ignoring the hammer), the hammer must be back. This design flaw means slower firing times and a lot of thumb exercise if you shoot with one hand. Overall, I would recommend this toy for older children, but take heed of the imperfections described above. I do not think this would be a kid's first choice, among the many great Nerf guns out there, in a Nerf war.

Near perfect Hammershot upgrade
TLDR a more stylish Hammershot with added capacity and slightly slower reload. Limited compatibility with metal kits and overall less reliable for performance focused players, requiring more skill to field. When I saw that Hasbro designed a six-shooter similar to the time tested and reliable Hammershot, the increased dart capacity and low price tag made this blaster an instant buy for me. Even as someone who dislikes Fortnite, I could appreciate the design as it more closely resembled a "Big Iron" than the Hammershot, with a slim profile similar to the Rebelle Sweet Revenge. The best part is that the giant barrel with the Fortnite logo comes detached (be warned that it is not designed to be removed) - though the blaster is somewhat cartoonish looking, I can at least pretend it isn't a Fortnite gun. Due to it’s slimmer and slightly longer design, I had a much more fun time spinning it around my “Big Orange” like a crazed outlaw than the chunky Hammershot, and it overall just feels better in the hand. On a side note, as if the Fortnite logo wasn't enough, the barrel is ridiculously long (you might hit yourself in the face when trying to spin the blaster), and the "front blade sight" is very thicc, to the point where it might be better to have no iron sights at all. However, if you like the look, the inner barrel diameter is quite wide, and should not hinder range in any way. Range and power is also on par with the Hammershot - unsurprising, considering that the internals are nearly identical. However, there are a few differences - a notch has been added to the hammer as a safety mechanism, removing the hair trigger that the Hammershot is well known for. While I do appreciate the reduced chance of an accidental discharge, as this product was designed for 8 year olds, I immediately swapped out the hammer for one from an old Hammershot. For those wondering if this blaster is compatible with the Hammershot metal kits, the hammer seems to fit perfectly fine, but the metal trigger is too fat for the shell of the 6 SH - you will either need to use the intended trigger (might increase wear and tear due to plastic on metal) or dremel out the trigger area. However, due to the grip design, it may not be worth the trouble, as your hand will naturally sit uncomfortably close to the hammer, especially when “fanning the hammer” with a metal kit such as the one from Blasterparts, forcing the user to be extra mindful when performing this technqiue. The 6 SH’s frame, though stylish, can also be a serious detriment to the blaster’s reliability and ease of use. It is easier to jam as sometimes the cylinder can fail to line up with the barrel, especially when firing fast. Furthermore, the front of the frame is obstructive to reloading, as it blocks the chamber that would be most logical to start reloading from. One note about the cylinder is that it does rotate rather freely in comparison to the Hammershot, so the reload is not too bad, and will make a nice ratcheting sound when spun, however it does tend to spin when the blaster is moved swiftly, such as when you are running. When adding electric tape to increase friction between the cylinder and the frame, the cylinder sometimes failed to rotate when priming the blaster, though this might be worth it if you have the patience to find the perfect width. I did not, and for these reasons, I would not recommend this blaster over the Hammershot for situations such as HvZ. Overall, the obstructive frame and grip angle are what I believe hold this blaster back. Though I did not think it was worth devoting the effort to fit a metal kit into this blaster, it is quite nice for the price, and while it is not as reliable as the Hammershot, it feels more like a classic six shooter. For those with skill and knowledge of its drawbacks, this is a great blaster to tag people with while looking really cool doing it, despite technically being a "Fortnite gun".

One Cat Loves It.. the Other Cat Fears It!
My husband has an arsenal of Nerf products because he is a huge child. He has decided that this particular gun is great for reprimanding the cats. One cat fears it because my husband is able to send the darts sailing across the living room with great accuracy and just enough trajectory to get the cat's attention to let him know his behavior is unacceptable. To my husband's dismay, now all he has to do it touch the gun sitting on the couch next to him and the cat runs off. No more shooting at the kitty. :( The other cat thinks the darts propelled at her at fun time and loves when her dad grabs the big, bright orange toy shooter! He loves to chase the darts and sometimes will jump up on the couch to motion for him to shoot darts for her. I'm sure human kids will love this product too.

Box was torn up but hoping the toy still works.
I bought these as Christmas gifts. One of them came with the box all torn up. They were shipped in a larger amazon box and the Amazon box was not beat up so I'm pretty sure it was put in there that way. I know this shouldn't be a big deal as long as the toy still works but having the box tore up is kind of a disappointment when it was to be a gift for a child.
