TOOTE KIRJELDUS Käsijootmise kunst on eksisteerinud väga-väga pikka aega, tegelikult juba tuhandeid aastaid. Kuid alles 1941. aastani töötas trafol põhineva kiirkuumutusjootmise meetodi välja kannatamatu Ameerika raadioparandaja, kes oli väsinud istumisest ja ootamast, kuni jootepüstol kuumeneb. Carl E. Weller pidi oma Welleri tootmisettevõtte käivitamiseks ootama kuni pärast II maailmasõja lõppu 1945. aastal. 1960. aastal patenteeris Weller Manufacturing Co USA-s jootekolvi "Magnastat", mis kasutas triikraua otsa temperatuuri reguleerimiseks magnetkomponenti. Alates 1959. aastast välismaale laienemise käigus korraldati Weller GmbH tehas Saksamaal Besigheimis koos uute tehastega teistes riikides, et toota temperatuuri reguleeritud triikrauad ja jootepüstolid peamiselt tööstusturgudele kogu Euroopas ja Lähis-Idas. Pidades sammu meie klientide kasvavate vajadustega, sai Weller Saksamaast käsijootmistoodete arendamise ja tootmise turuliider kogu maailmas. Meie toodetel oli uhke kiri "Made in Germany", mis tähistab uuenduslikkust ja usaldusväärsust. TOOTJALT Weller WSA350 on lauapealne suitsusummuti, mis eemaldab jootmispingilt räbusti aurud. ESD ohutu.

Doesn't seem to have enough suction
I got this to be safe while soldering keyboard kits and it's definitely better than the cheapo one I tried before it, but I have to assume there are better options. It's very big. If you have a small workspace, this might be tricky to work around. It's loud. Not surprising, it's a fan and you need lots of suction to whisk the fumes away so I wasn't surprised by that. For it being so big and loud, it doesn't seem to have a lot of suction if you're not directly against the fan. For instance, I had it tilted down toward the board I was soldering, and if I wasn't 2-3" away from it, the fumes would still come up toward my face. It seems like the front of the fan could be changed to create more of a vacuum where as the wide front it does have doesn't really direct the power of the fan if that makes any sense. I've found that I almost need to have the fan tilted forward and my soldering job be almost underneath it. That makes soldering a bit tough so I have to get a lamp to point under there so I can see. It's not ideal, but it's better than sucking in bad fumes.

I'm soldering for a good amount of time and going through quite a bit ...
I do stained glass, and when I'm working on a sizable project, I'm soldering for a good amount of time and going through quite a bit of brushed on flux. My work room is small and has just a small ceiling exhaust fan. I looked at a lot of options and did a lot of online research before buying this. There are a lot of smoke absorbers with the same 5" square filter, and most of them are cheaper than this. My decision came down to a question of air flow. This fan seems to have the highest CFM rating of any that I found. The cheapest competitors are much lower. I wanted to make sure that the fan pulled as much of the smoke as possible away from the work. I'm very happy with the result, as I never see smoke drifting toward me and can't even smell the flux being burned away. The whole device is very solidly built. No cheap parts anywhere that I can see. It should last a long time. There's nothing loose, nothing that looks like it will break or fall apart. Nice construction, and nothing that looks "cheap". Some web sites indicate that this is a "quiet" fan, which I suppose is true compared to a lot of other fans, but in my small space it's very noticeable. When listening to music, I have to turn up the volume a little. The fan doesn't screech or make any noise itself, but there IS a lot of air being moved. The trade off between a little more air noise and a lot less smoke is one I'll take every time. The mounting legs for the unit are small but sturdy, the whole fan is fairly light and easy to move with a convenient handle on the top. Being able to adjust the intake angle is great, and it's very easy with this product. I can get it fairly close to my work at a good angle and that helps keep the smoke down. The whole thing is a little big for my work area, but I can't imagine a smaller device that would do the job, so I think I've got the best possible in this regard until someone changes the laws of physics. You need a high amount of airflow, and a smaller device would have to be very, very noisy. Net result: Outstanding performance for the job, a little louder and bigger than I'd like but probably the best that can be done today. I'm glad I didn't purchase any of the less expensive competitors.

Perfect for a hobbyist/occasional soldering!
This is a great little unit for the money! While someone who solders every day/all day (or with lead-free solder, which creates more fumes) will probably want something more powerful/bigger than this, this extractor does a fine job of sucking up flux fumes for hobby use or occasional soldering, which is more my application (I'm a soldering novice who bought it for audio electronics work). I'm not working in the most well ventilated room, and this thing does just fine keeping the air clean. It feels like a good quality, well made unit with a bit of heft to it. It's not terribly loud, but not exactly quiet either. You do need to have it fairly close to what you're soldering for it to suck up all the fumes - it won't work as well from several feet away (it also helps to point the fan inlet directly at what you're working on). So it's fine for things from quick and simple jobs up to component replacement on a smaller to medium sized PCB board. I'd say in the grand scheme of things, it's probably a 4/5 score - but I'm rounding up to 5 due to being a good value for the money IMO. Just be realistic about what a tabletop unit like this can do and you won't be disappointed.
