Top notch mechanic and still problems!

I've got to say I was disappointed with the Warn winch mount kit. It is supposed to be made specifically for the Warn winch and my model year Jeep. The first problem I encountered was with the nuts that have a tab welded to them; to be used inside the frame. The welds broke before the nut even started to tighten. I called the support number and described the problem and I got "Gees, I've never heard of that happening before.". No offer to replace the nuts, no suggestions on how to finish tightening them. In the instructions it tells you that you would need to use a file to enlarge two holes in the frame. OK I was fine with that but I had to file half a dozen holes in the mount itself in order to line up various holes. A simple three hour install took several days when you include the time it took trying to find special tools to hold the nuts inside the frame. Would buy again because I couldn't find an alternative.

This winch mounting plate is way too heavy. Nearly 70 pounds. When you add a winch (another 70lbs) and a Tow plate (30 pounds), you may be putting too much weight on the front end of the Wrangler. It was shipped from Oregon to California. When I wanted to return it, it had to be shipped from California back to Pennsylvania not Oregon for a cost of nearly $90.00. With the 15% restocking fee and payment of the original $18 shipping, this return will cost me nearly $150.00. Ouch!
