Honest review here... when I received this, I was not at all impressed. The small was much smaller than I expected, especially the white laying area (brown bumpers aside). I have mostly large Maine Coons so I thought... hmph. It is way too small for many of the cats. It also just looked cheap and not well-made. It was only ~$8 so I determined it would be useful for a crate pad and wrote it off. Proportionally, it has a whole lot of low bumper and the nook in the middle is very small. Weird proportions. But I left it sitting out in the meantime... And I quickly found it has a niche. My kitten absolutely loves it. She loves the low, rounded bumpers. Out of over a dozen I purchased... she just loves this one the most. It’s her daily bed. As she grows, I will have to get her a medium. I also have a 6.5lb geriatric cat. He is an achy old man now, my sweet Pootie, and he was feral most of his life until I trapped him, found he was badly injured, and tamed him. Having lived most of his life as a truly wild animal, he HATES being closed in. You will never find him sprawled out in a plush bed like my other cats... Usually he relaxes in a perched position in spot with a good vantage point. He’s a sweet boy with simple tastes. In taking him to the vet today, I found this was the absolute perfect thing to set on my passenger seat for him to ride on. I’ve tried many, but he’d rather sit on a hard surface... and as I turn, he would stumble and fall. This bed is perfect for him. The low bumpers didn’t bother him at all, the bed was flat enough that he had a perching spot, and it provided just the right “surround” to keep him from stumbling for the turns. I was so thrilled! Unfortunately, after the stress of the vet, he had to go on the way home and as an old man, he couldn’t hold it. Nasty, smelly diarrhea. That’s the death of many beds... Since this one seemed very non-durable to me, I went online to buy another (perfect for the old man and all)... but I though, what the heck, I will try at least. I hosed it off, sanitized it and then washed/dried it. I was again pleased. It washed and dried beautifully. No dots from the non-skid bottom everywhere (yet). No seams coming loose. Retained its shape, not lumpy. I was rather surprised at how well it washed. Very happy. So, while I was initially very disappointed, I have come to really appreciate this unique bed, and how it has way too much low bumper and way too little laying area. For most pets, this probably won’t be a bed you will like. But for the right uses, for the right cat, it is uniquely wonderful. This earns it 5 stars.
