Product works

It works. Although the direction said 5 grams for every 10-20 gallons, I gotta use total of 80 grams to treat 35 gallons tap water to get my pH down to ~7.0 . Although I don't grow any plant in my tank, but this product contains phosphate, and with the amount I put, I'm a little concerned. So far my discus still eat and swim well, but I'm trying to find a better way to reduce my pH with less chemical. So to sump up, it works and it doesn't kill your kH which helps to maintain your buffer, unlike seachem acid buffer which is very dangerous if you use with your tap water, even use it with alkaline buffer with acid buffer.

Beware! Phosphate based

I been trying to setup a discus thank, I have more than 2 months trying to achieve the best water quality for discus that my budget allows. I do use other Seachem products like Prime and Purigen with great results. This product, Seachem Discus Buffer has a problem that you need to be aware off: it is Phosphate based. Phosphate means algae bloom risk, I have had a fight with algae for a long time and is usually produced by high phosphate in the water column. I wasn't aware that this product would introduce high concentrations of phosphate to my thank. I don't have the algae bloom yet but before it happens I will try to clean the water of phosphates before introducing Discus, that means I need to start over. Not fun. To lower the PH of the tap water I will give a try to Acid Buffer from Seachem also. The info says that it doesn't includes phosphate. Some would said get a RO system: to expensive, to wasteful; Peat: unsightly. I hope to give 5 stars to Acid Buffer and a good review.

Fifteen years of Freshwater Aquariums, including Discus and other Amazon River Species...

Seachem Discus Buffer used with Seachem Neutral Regulator, I can lower and stabilize the pH to anywhere between 6.8 to 5.8. I have used Discus Buffer for fifteen (15) years to replicate the ideal Discus and other Amazon River fish environment (low pH & low GH {General Hardness}). Discus Buffer will lower pH and keep it lowered to the pH you choose; also, it softens water (by precipitating calcium and magnesium) so, I also use Discus Trace to restore the proper level of trace elements required for thriving, healthy fish. I bought the 1 Kilo because I depend on Discus Buffer to lower and the pH and to soften water for all of my aquariums; also, I do many partial water changes which are necessary for healthy aquarium fish.

I received an open/used one?

As I was opening the container, I felt like product was on the rim.. scratchy sandy texture and sounds as I opened it. The seal was half way off as if either it was actually opened or the seal wasn’t rightfully sealed and easy to peel off. The product wasn’t filled with power like if it was new. Like a quarter of it missing as if they sent me a returned/used product. The product itself is to lower the ph levels for discus. Unless my ph meter is wrong, it’s still barely at 7. Semi does it’s job, just sucks I got a defective one.

Does as advertised

I have very bad rural water where I live. I have Discus that require frequent water changes. Our water is very high in PH Cholrine..all the 'bad' stuff, even after aging, so woater changes, while cleaning the tank, actually causes as much harm as the water being removed (I tested the tap water using the same API Test Kit that I use on tank water and all parameters were rather high). This product, combined with Seachum Safe (which I also purchased at Amazon) keeps my nitrates, nitrites, ammonias, and my PH is within the 6.0 to 6.8 range. Now My breeding pair has spawning conditions. Hopefully I will have some frys in the near future!

NOT AS SHOWN IN PICTURE. But good product

Good Product, But the product shown on the website as a 13 inch high product is not accurate. The Product is 1 KG as advertise. But the product bottle is only 8 inches high, not 13 inches high as depected on the description.

Is there a seal?

When I opened the lid to see that there was no seal. I tried the buffer to see if it worked and it did. Just wished it had a seal. Great product and this buffer is reliable and great. This is the first time that I got buffer on Amazon.

Todo correcto
