Function as they should, easy to install & produce sound

Nice little speakers for our boat

We bought a set of these to add to the back of our boat. The other speakers we have are in the boat and to hear them when you're in the water you have to blare them. That's okay but if you're in the boat you can't talk to someone in the water and vice versa. We added these little babies and that's no longer a problem. Plus it's nice when other boats around are blaring music we don't want our little one hearing. The speakers are pretty good. The look really nice and have good sound to them. The only knock on them is that they do distort with higher volume where the speakers in the boat do not. They're a little smaller though and we don't turn them up like that normally but that's why I gave them four stars instead of five. I was a little concerned when I first ran the wiring and hooked them up to test them. They didn't sound like they had any bass at all but now that they're mounted in the boat, they sound much richer. To mount them, I cut two holes using a 4.25" hole saw. You'd probably be safe using a 4.5" but since I was cutting two big holes in our boat, I thought I'd play it safe and go with the smaller saw. I did have to do some filing to get them seated in there properly but it wasn't a big deal. Then of course I drilled pilot holes for the mounting screws. A little marine sealant around the outer edge and there you have it. We've been out a few times with them now and we love them. It's so much nicer having those speakers on the back. They are exposed to the elements while it's in storage and of course they get water on them at the lake, but we haven't had any issues there either. The way we look at it, even if they only last a year or two the cost is low enough we could buy new ones and not sweat it. I don't think that'll be a problem though.

Decent quality sound

The media could not be loaded. I bought the Hydra 5” speaker, the 8” woofer and the 400 watt amp for my boat and it sounds really good. Don’t try comparing to a $800+ system. I simply wanted a system that had decent sound, wouldn’t break the bank, as well as for people to hear the sound when I pass. This was a successful in all aspects while using a Cheap walmart stereo to test it. I haven’t tested the waterproof part yet and time will tell on that the longevity. For now, I’m extremely happy.

Not bad for the cost

They work. Not horrible. Hard to find a good 5" speaker so had to size up. Good solid construction

Great sound for the price.

I did'nt even need to drill new holes. The mounting holes lined up with the screw holes from my old boat speakers. Excellent sound for a speaker this size.

if you know what to expect, these are great

if you know what to expect, these are great. While pyle is not a brand I look to for hi-fi or professional use, they are my favorite brand for boats and RVs. they are inexpensive, weather well, and actually have a good general sound to them. In RVs and boats, you just don't have the option to build a properly tuned enclosure, and you have little control over what's behind the speakers you do install. The tweets do not overpower like the premium brands do these days; they blend well. Just a good, solid weather friendly speaker. The 5.25"s sound like they should. The bigger you buy, the deeper the lows reach - so don't expect much kick drum and bass until you reach for 6x9s. I do feel the frequency response advertised is accurate IF they are installed in an enclosure designed for them, though pyle does not release the thiele/small parameters to go by. My guess is, they need 2/3 sq ft sealed box to open up, and could probably go down to just below 1/2 square foot if ported properly. In an open baffle like a boat or who-knows what in an RV, roll the dice....
