Meh. I'm not finding the hype here.
It's shampoo and conditioner. It smells good, not the best. My hair certainly felt clean, but not conditioned. It didn't feel like straw after using this, some products make my hair liberally feel like hay, but my hair didn't get thenormal softness and bounce. I'm not mad that I tried it, but I won't buy it again. Pretty pricey for the amount. I bought this based in the reviews, even a salon owner said this is all she buys and uses in her salon, yikes... I'm sure this is a good brand for some, not a fit for me. I have fairly long, fairly thick, wavy hair.

Formula Changed
I was worried this was going to be counter-fit due to the reviews. It’s not. The formula did change, and the type is all one single color. I think people leaving knock-off titled reviews haven’t used this conditioner in a while or they had the previous version. The type is a single color, not two color. The smell is fine, not major cilantro but it does a good job with normal hair.

Leave-in hair styling
I first encountered this product in the Sanderson hotel in London. I used it as a leave in conditioner. To my surprise, it held my hair in place even when wind blew on it. Unlike hair gel, this conditioner has a matte finish, which makes your hair look more natural. It has a faint but pleasant smell. They definitely did not add any artificial perfumes to it. I’m only docking one star because it’s extremely expensive at $40 a bottle. However, this $40 bottle should last me the whole year because I don’t have super long hair (I’m male with 2 inch hair)

Don’t worry about the smell
So I was also shocked that the shampoo smelled chemical-y, and I was ready to return it but I first stopped by an actual Malin+Goetz store near me and their bottle smelled the exact same. The SA said that he was also shocked but the conditioner does work well and isn’t damaging at all. When it’s in your hair it smells quite good actually.

Smells weird
The good: It does hydrate well, and my hair feels supple and soft without feeling oily. The bad: it smells like those Expo white board spray cleaners. It’s not a very strong smell, but it definitely does not smell like cilantro whatsoever.

Not convinced it’s a genuine product
I purchased this product and have to agree with other reviewers that have said they are not convinced this product is genuine. Compared to a small bottle of the same from a hotel this smells wrong, doesn’t have the same texture and barely conditions. If it is a genuine product then it’s not the same as I have used before and is really quite poor.
