A little on the large size, works well, very high quality material.

My son gets very cold during his swim lessons (partially from his medication) and he wasn't able to focus as well because he wanted to get out of the pool and get warm. I purchased the wetsuit to help insulate his body and keep him warmer while swimming. I pair it with a long sleeved rash guard (worn under the suit) during his lessons to help maximize the warmth. My husband explained to me that wetsuits work by circulating the water closer to your body, thus making the water stay warmer from your body temperature. I let my son get in the hot tub before his lessons start so his body temperature is higher and this combination has worked very well as a result. My son is very slender and I purchased this wet suit for him with the intention of him being able to grow into a little. I purchased a size 8 (he wears a 7 Slim in Children's Place clothing as a reference), so I knew the wet suit would be a little large circumference wise. As I hoped, the length was correct while the width was a bit large. He should be able to grow in this suit for a while. The wet suit itself is made of a very nice, thick (3 mm) material. It's very high quality (great stitching, good attention to detail, no loose pieces). I think it was a great value.

Cute and efficient

I ordered this wetsuit after reading the reviews. My daughters love it! My only complaint is that I went off the sizing and ordered a size 4 according to weight and height. My daughter is 7 years a little over the half way point at 47lbs and 4'1'' for the size 4, which technically fits, but it is skin tight with no room to grow at all- it left marks around her arms and she is very petite for her age. I put this on my 5 year old who is more at the bottom of the size 4 range 42 lbs and 3'9''- it fits perfect with just enough room to make sure there is slight growing room, but not too big. I will be ordering the size 6 for my older daughter now that I see the sizing. UPDATE- Even though it was tight, my older daughter used it and loves it! It kept her warm for her swim lessons (50mins) and her lips didn't change color- she also said she was much warmer and not shivering anymore. I ordered the next size up (6) for her and will see how that one fits, but right now she likes that it is tight and doesn't let a lot of water in. Also- I ordered the NeoSport in Lavendar (sz 6) and she didn't like it- it doens't have the extra little neck wrap and it wasn't as thick- plus it didn't seem as nice in the chest area. I am returning that one and ordering this light blue one again in sz 6.

Decent for the Price

I bought this for my son (just turned 8, 49”, 48 lbs) in a size 6. It is large, but he can still wear it. The photo is a size 6 hyperflex laying on top of an O’Neill size 10 (the shoulders are matched up). The O’Neill fit is good for a skinny kid. The Hyperflex is the same width in some spots, including the thighs and may be a better choice for a thicker kid. The Hyperflex material feels thinner than the 2mm O’Neill. For my thin child, I’d rather spend the same amount on a used size 6 O’Neill wetsuit for a better fit.

Runs True To Size. Fexible. Nice Quality.

I've been surfing for over 20 years. My younger son (4 yrs) wanted to go out with his big brother and dad. So we picked this up and as usual, Amazon had it here in no time flat. This weekend we took the kids to the beach and the ocean was about 65f. My little one wore this all day and didn't complain about being cold at all. They were in and out of the water - body boarding, filling buckets, playing in the waves, knocking one another over... you know. Having fun in the ocean. No complaints about cold, only that we had to leave. Highly recommend this 2mm (although it says 2.5 on the sleeve) spring suit for your little rippers! UPDATE: 6/16/14 After using one day at the beach we tried to use again and found the zipper had pulled out of the track and we couldn't get it back. Thankfully, it was less than 30 days since we purchased, so we did a RMA with Amazon and the new one arrived the day after I put the old one in the mail.... Why we use Amazon, right? There isn't a plastic stop at the bottom of the zipper, so it can pull past the sewn stop if you are not careful. Otherwise, well made. A bit on the smaller size for what is listed as sizing - but these aren't made by 100% by machines, so sizing for each one is going to vary a bit.

Good overall but be careful how you close the velcro at the neck

The wetsuit is made well, fits well (got size 6 for a 6 yo), and works well - my son says it keeps him warm. My only gripe is the velcro closing at the back of the neck - you have to be *very* careful how you position the closure to prevent any of the rougher parts/edges to rub the skin. It took us 3 times experimenting with different positioning to finally find a way that didn't rub and irritate the skin on my son's neck. Now that I know what I'm doing, it's fine but it wasn't as easy as 'simply press the velcro together' as I expected.

Great suit for surfing or just swimming in cooler water

Great surfing suit, keeps the child warm in cool water. I got size 8 for my 52-lbs 6 year old, so he can get a few years out of it. Even though other reviews say that the sizes run small, please keep in mind that the suit has to be very tight in order not to let the water in. If it’s a bit lose, the water will get in and the child will not be as warm as if the suit was very tight. Basically the same concept as buying an adult surf suit. The proper size needs to feel so tight almost uncomfortable. Once you get into water it straches a bit. But for my son, I still decided to get a slightly bigger size to prolong its use.

Well made!

Perfect fit for my 9 year old daughter...the size 6 was too small. Unfortunately, I had to return this particular unit because my daughter stopped swimming for a while. Will likely order the same one in the summer for beach and lake use. Some minor fading of the fabric (near the folds) when we opened the package...but nothing to alarming.

Zipper quit after 4 months

This is a great wetsuit but... My kiddo is skinny like a stick and it fits per the sizing chart. It would be a 5 star purchase but the zipper was temperamental from the start and then unfortunately after 4 months of use - 1x week on avg - the zipper busted. The teeth just won't stay together. We'll roll the dice again and hope it was just this one.

Excelente wetsuit

Esta excelente y hermoso. muy buena calidad. Lo pedi un poco mas grande para que le quede un tiempo extra y esta perfecto. No creo usarlo tanto ya que vivimos en aguas calidas pero al menos le sacara provecho para ir a mar abierto a snorkelear con el tiburon ballena y más cosas. Muy buen producto hasta ahora.!
