Most stable
I've walked with a cane for more than 5 years. I wore out the base of one cane and bought this to replace it. It was a little heavier but was more stable than the one the cane came with. I used it until, after several years, it wore out and ordered another. I also found it wasn't slippery like the original base. Bottom line, safer.

Helpful, but not perfect
I've been using this tip now for about 4 months. Positive: it gives better stability because there is a larger surface touching the ground than just a normal cane tip. When my cane does fall over, I can use my foot to flip the can up by pushing on the rubber edge, and it pivots up - I don't have to bend over to pick the cane up. Negatives: While it is helpful, the base is still small and does fall over very easily. This can happen on a very flat surface, but happens especially often on an uneven or carpeted surface. Though, as mentioned above under "Positives," I can put my foot on the rubber feet and use them as a lever to flip the cane back up without bending over.. But is does fall over a lot, which is a little annoying.. Other: This tip weighs 7 ounces. The original tip that came with the cane weighs 1 1/2 ounces for a net gain of 5 1/2 ounces of weight. It doesn't seem noticeable to me, though it might to someone who is frail or very small. Bottom Line: It does add some stability when walking and can stand on its own. It's still going to fall over though. I think this will happen with any quad tip unless it is very large, to where you might trip over it. I would buy it again.

Not too bulky
Not too big, doesn't add too much height to cane. Might not be quite as stable as my old one, but basically it serves the purpose if you don't need a big 4-legged one.

Great accessory
this cane tip is really great when you already own a cane you love and just need it to stand alone. My grandma had a cane that was her favorite but she had a hard time getting it to stay when she leaned it against something. I decided to get her the cane tip. when I first received it I thought it might be a little too heavy but it was not she loved it. it did a great job at keeping her cane standing and within reach when she needed it. very durable material looks and feels like durable heavy duty rubber but not heavy as my grandma described it. she uses it for everyday use

They do wear out.
It replaced one that wore out after 5 years. I hope I live long enough to wear this one out.

Not as great as the manufacturer claims!
Despite the claim, this base does NOT prevent the cane from falling over, especially when the center of gravity is off. Mine, and I have 3 ergonomic canes with this base, fall over all of the time, even on the linoleum floor in my kitchen, and it is perfectly even. The slightest nudge and it falls! Fortunately for me, generally I am able to bend over to pick it up. My major complaint with this base is that I have had to replace this base 3 times now because the sections that are in contact with the floor crack off and you probably will not realize it until it is too late to do much about it. This is really serious if it happens when one is walking and is not aware that one of the tips is about to completely fall off. I check the base on mine every few days because of this tendency and I ALWAYS keep an extra one for this reason only. Yesterday I was using it in the kitchen and I thought that it felt squishy. When I upended the cane and looked at the base I discovered that the one of the tips was almost completely separated from the holder and was hanging on by a thread! Fortunately, I had a spare and my son came and replaced the broken one for me. Handy, and makes walking easier, but beware of the problems. It is unfortunate that there isn't something like this for canes with ergonomic handles so that center of gravity is better balanced.

Wayyy too big and heavy. And not eligible for returns.
Very disappointed with this item that I seem to be stuck with as it says Not eligible for returns. It’s a monster of a cane stand: huge and heavy; not for smaller people or women.
