I hate most anything with a strong fragrance. I have an accute sense of smell and, from everything from laundry detergent to hand lotion, I cannot tolerate a perfume scent, especially anything floral based. I do not wear perfume or cologne of any kind. Due to the summer heat and humidity, I began experiencing some chafing and discomfort. I immediately though dusting powder would solve the problem but I hadn't bought any in years. And, I knew not many companies would still make it. I used to love Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt dusting powder. The fragrance was light and so heavenly. It's no longer sold in a big round tub with a luxurious included puff with a satin ribbon strap handle. Now, it seems, it can only be found in a tiny shaker size, no puff, and is only available in a set that includes a bottle of the matching spray perfume. Sad. Since I have no use for the spray perfume, this meant Vanderbilt was out. From past experience, I knew anything by Yardly would be super perfumed and I'd hate it. So, based on the reviews that said this White Diamonds powder was "gently" fragranced, I gave it a try. So okay, I'm not totally in love with the scent, but it is so mild and so subtle that it does not bother me at all. It has almost a soapy scent versus a floral or perfume scent. That's a plus for me. The texture of the powder is very fine milled and it's soothing when applied. Like I said, while I may not be totally in love with the scent of this dusting powder like I used to be with Vanderbilt or a discontinued British import I used to buy, it is so light and subtle that it is not unpleasant or offensive in any way. I guess I'd say it's mildly likeable, and it may even grow on me in time. The price is quite reasonable and I find that as I had hoped, it's soothing and alleviating my chafing issue. The container is nice, and it does come with an only so-so included puff but, unlike the Vanderbilt puff, there is no satin ribbon strap to grip the puff with, and, unlike the Vanderbilt puff that was incredibly soft, fluffy, and oversized, this puff could never be described as luxurious. If I decide to reorder, I may buy a nicer puff to use with this powder. Still, for the price, the included puff serves it's purpose. If you are not a fan of strong or heavy fragrance, I'd say you should give this a try. I'm pleased that it has a gentle scent. UPDATE: I'm on day three of this powder, and I like it more and more. I have been trying to figure out what the scent reminds me of and I've finally figured it out! It smells like Johnson & Johnson "No More Tears" Baby Shampoo! The smell is mild yet very appealing. Hope that helps.
