A bit dusty when being used but works
Basically, what the mulch plug does is it covers up the chute where the cut grass, or leaves, would get thrown out of. This causes the cut material to get cut again by the mower blades, thus mulching. I used this with the EGO ZTM mower. The mulch plug is easy enough to put on, or take off, in a couple of minutes. Moved from CA to TN in 2021. I have a 1-acre yard. In 2021 when all of the leaves fell, I figured I should bag them up. That took a large number of bags, was a lot of work, and was basically a dumb idea. In 2022 I decided to mow over the leaves using the mulch plug. In fairness to me, I couldn't find the EGO mulch plug in 2021. Mowing over the leaves works even better than I thought it would as it really chops them up into very small pieces. The only real negative is when you contain what is being mowed inside the blade area it sends up a lot of dust in the air. I make sure to wear goggles, a hood or hat, and some type of mask so I'm not breathing in the dust. I would also suggest mowing over the leaves when they first drop so that you don't end up with massive piles that you can't get the mower to go over. With large piles the leaves would just be pushed around. In that case, I raised up the blade and went over them a few times and then lowered the blade back down and went over them again. The concept of the mulch plug is simple, but it works and at least for me was much better than trying to bag leaves.

Direct fit for ego 42" ride on zero turn mower. Bought to replace a bent blade. Figured I can straighten and sharpen those while still mowing, and swap out as needed. Good OEM fit.

Leaf collection with Z6
Okay the negatives out of way first, a) Ego products are $$$ b) The bags on this are small, so I have to empty them often. Thats okay because the bags are not too heavy as I empty them. But, this works well enough to pick up leaves off of grass in Fall, which was my main use for this system. Installation was easy, and I've banged into a few tree branches accidentally and it has held up fine, so I'd say it is well built. I'm happy with the purchase. Hey Ego, consider selling the bags separately as well. Eventually the bags are gonna give out, what are we supposed to do, buy a whole new thing?

Sturdy product but assembly instructions should be changed
This product looks and feels sturdy, but I haven't used it enough to properly assess this. I did find the assembly to be difficult following the instructions as written. The holes for the "B" bolts passing through the box and tubes are very difficult to align to get a bolt through them if you follow the instructions. I suggest putting the box on the supporting frame arms, then loosely attach an elbow tube to the box and supporting frame arms with "B" bolts, then attach the other end of the elbow tube to the vertical tubes. Tighten all bolts after the end of loose assembly. This modified sequence changes assembly from very difficult to very easy. This box will prevent battery cover from fully opening but you will still be able to remove the batteries nearest the seat. The alternative is to lift out this accessory and set it aside to fully open the battery cover.

Plugs That Hole in Your Ego…
Simple to install to allow the Ego Z6 riding mower to mulch grass and leaves. Made doing leaves this past fall so easy I didn’t know what to do with all the time I saved. ( I had a beer and took a nap). Would highly recommend - the Ego Mulch Plug, the beer, and the nap.

Missing part
Parts bag had been torn open and hardware was scattered around box. Found all parts except lock pin. Called EGO and was told they don’t know if they have any replacement parts for bagger. Said I would have to return entire 100 lb item for one small missing pin. I made one out of a bolt and it works fine. EGO needs to have replacement parts since things can break or get lost.
