Great avocado smasher
I needed something a little smaller than my potato smasher for making guacamole, and this worked out perfectly. The scooped spoon also came in handy when I was making hard and soft boiled eggs and needed to pull them from the water. Glad I purchased.

great small batch solution
I was tempted to buy Zyliss's top rated masher B00VE3BAPG but I think this smaller tough plastic solution fits my needs better. in my photo are 1.5lbs of Russet peeled quartered then cold salt water to boil then 25min simmer, drain water till dry of water, then i go around twice mashing, add 2oz unsalted butter (pre melt in the microwave) and 4oz of heavy whipping cream, mash around the bowl several mores times, add half a teaspoon of salt, a quarter teaspoon of paprika, quarter teaspoon of onion and a quarter teaspoon of pepper, mash some more, finally yielding 28oz of complex flavored creamy mashed potato, more than enough for 4-6 portions. this Zyliss size and shape doubles as a spatula and scoop, and the plastic means i don't have to worry about scratching up whatever container i use for mashing. some minor gripes over this masher design is about two tablespoons of mash get stuck in the grate, so you'll want to poke those bits out with a chopstick or simply give it to a kid to lick clean. since the mash area and handle are smaller than usual, you may not want to choose this mini if you regularly make over 5lbs batches, and it may not be fine enough for puree baby food unless you are willing to additionally whisk after you mash.

Does what it says
We started making banana bread every week during the long covid winter, so I ordered this for banana mashing. Does the trick and cuts the mashing time roughly in half vs using a fork. I probably wouldn’t use it for more serious mashing jobs (like potatoes) but for softer foods like avocados and bananas, it’s perfect.

Easy to Clean
Mashes okay but not to a smooth creamy consistency. I used it on my refried beans too. It worked but the process took longer. It is useful as a scoop so you’re not dirtying a second utensil.
