Exactly the same as a snap on. Comes from snap on
Williams is snap ons industrial brand. Same as a snap on ratchet. Just not the same warranty and a coarser tooth count.. otherwise. The same

For the money 5 STARS. But don’t expect a snap-on with different logo
For money it’s up there with the very best. Personally I would prefer gearwrench but this being made in the USA wins the battle in my opinion. The mechanism isn’t as crisp or tight as gearwrench and far from snap-on. Finish is almost as good as snap-on. One flaw is not having the “on off” position like gearwrench or snap-on. Understand it’s 1/4 inch so in general the tool is smaller than a normal ratchet. The width of the handle is quite thin I have average size hands and it feels small. still highly recommend

Snap On with a different name
The Williams M-52EHA is made in the USA for those wondering. Also, most Williams tools that start with letters do. Anyways, this 1/4" bad boy is just a rebranded Snap On ratchet let's be honest. The fit and finish is snap on quality and I love that this thing is so compact. Definitely makes my job on cars etc easier.

Williams Pear Head Ratchet 1/4 drive, USA
Top Quality. Fairly fine tooth. Comfortable to use. Budget friendly. This is the 1/4 drive. I have the flex handle and the plain handle as well the 3/8, and 1/2 drive ratchets. I bought them to use in place of my suddenly vintage Snap-On drive tools. I like them. A little more bulky than the earlier model of Williams pairhead ratchet but no more so than the current Snap-On pairhead ratchet that it strongly resembles. The US made Williams tools are superior, in my opinion, to the tools in the Asian made Williams, Bluepoint, or Bahco sets that I own. For the money, they are without equal.

Great ratchet for extra leverage and tight situations
Very nice, high quality, USA made ratchet as you'd expect from this line of JH Williams ratchets (Not all of their ratchets are USA made, but those that look like this are.) It certainly has a place in my toolbox, and while it's not the 1/4" drive ratchet that I'll go to for everything, it is perfect for some situations. The flex head really helps with situations with limited space, particularly when you're working with breaking a fastener loose that is a little too tight to break free with a small 1/4" drive ratchet. It is overall much longer than my other 1/4" drive ratchets, which means plenty of extra leverage when needed, and plenty of leverage even when the flex head is significantly bent. I am sure that this ratchet would stand up to any amount of torque that you might put on it without any slipping, self reversing, or the like. The two downsides to this ratchet are the somewhat coarse movement and the somewhat high ratcheting torque. It is a 36 tooth design, which means a 10 degree swing to engage the next tooth. While that is probably the most common number of teeth for a ratchet, and there is no backlash or play to speak of like there is in lower quality 36 tooth ratchets, when you're used to dual 80 ratchets or the like, this will seem fairly coarse. In very tight situations, you may only be able to engage a couple of teeth, and a finer tooth ratchet makes all the difference there. The second downside is the somewhat high ratcheting torque; once the fastener is loose enough to turn by hand, you'll almost certainly need to put a finger or two on the socket/extension to get it to ratchet rather than spin in both directions. Of course that's not an issue if you can reach the fastener to loosen by hand, but it's something to be aware of. Overall, a very nice ratchet that serves its purpose well. Not my all time favorite ratchet, but a good buy and a good ratchet nonetheless.

Well made 36 tooth 1/4" ratchet
Made by Snap-On, Williams tools are a cheaper alternative to their more expensive counterparts. While they aren't branded as Snap-On, they do still carry a full warranty just as Snap-On branded tools do as well. I modified mine installing the 3/8 compact ratchet kit (RKRFC936), turning it into a 3/8 stubby rat. Beautiful well finished body, and the kit fits perfectly and has a smooth low back drag action! Sure it's only a lower 36 tooth count, but there are still times when a low tooth count rat can be handy. And the handle on these M52's are very similar to the old Snap-On M70's, except on these the ridges are less prevalent. Very nice tool! Satisfied!????

Terrible back drag
I won’t lie, this ratchet, along with all the other Williams ratchets I ordered, were pretty much unusable out of the box. They have terrible back drag that makes them almost impossible to use for automotive applications. A 1/4” ratchet is generally used on small fasteners in sometimes tight spaces after all. This would generally warrant a low rating considering the price and expectation. I did, however, clip the spring and now it works wonderfully. Considering the quality of this ratchet, it’s long length, flex head, and it’s made in the USA, I’ll forgive this problem. Understand that if the back drags is excessive, you may have to do the same thing. It’s an easy process, nonetheless.

Cheap guts in a nice ahell
I was so excited for this ratchet. One of my favorite 1/4 ratchets is an old snapon 30 tooth tm830. This Williams feels very similar in the hand and I loved that it was made in the USA. Very first time I used it the head skipped. Wow! Can't understand why Williams would make such a nice tool and then put cheap parts in the head. It's as if snapon does not want to compete w itself and sells cheaply made tools so you'll buy their real stuff. This $25 ratchet is not the same as their $100+ ratchet. If all you care about is the fact that it's made in the USA and that makes you feel good, then buy it. But as a tech that works w tools everyday, I think it's junk. I returned it and will be buying something else. I've had very similar experiences buying 2 different CDI torque wrenches too, another snapon owned company making a nice torque wrench w the cheapest ratchet heads I've ever seen installed on them. Both of them were returned too. You get what you pay for, I don't care where it's made, cheap tools are cheap tools. I have some really nice Williams sockets and screwdrivers, made in the USA, that I love. I will be avoiding there ratchets.
