Nice

I have a doorway that can be dark, but I don't want a light on all of the time. There isn't sun to charge a solar light in that area, so a battery operated motion light works for me. This isn't huge, but it puts out a nice amount of light.

Strong light; compact design.

This item arrives with all necessary tools and hardware, but no batteries. You will need two D batteries. You rotate the lamp up to access the battery compartment, and then unscrew the four small screws with the provided screwdriver, insert the batteries, and re-attach the battery lid. The instructions said not to overtighten; I did anyway, because I live in Florida and I want to keep the water out of there. I still have a lot of misgivings, because we have so much moisture here and there didn't seem to be any kind of weather sealing for the battery compartment. Onwards. You can test this right away to see if it is working by holding it against your shirt (so it is dark) and then moving it slightly (motion). If you installed the batteries correctly and it isn't broken, it should come on immediately. There is no on/off switch or other buttons of any kind. I found the instructions to be clearly written and easy to follow. I haven't used the mounting bracket to mount mine, as I'm going to place it somewhere where it can't be mounted that way. I tested it outside in the dark and I found I had to be fairly close to this for it to activate, which is a bummer. I think about 10-12 feet. I'm not sure how useful that is going to be around my house/yard. It also didn't seem to activate with my porch light on, so it seems to need total/near total darkness to work. On the positive side, the light is pretty bright, especially if you accidentally look directly at it and then try to type an Amazon review on your computer!

Cool

These little security lights are pretty cool. Very lightweight, super easy to pop batteries in, and incredibly easy to install with just a couple of screws. The sensitivity to motion is incredible and the lights are insanely bright for such a small device. They are also nondescript looking so you can hide them anywhere you need a little bit more light in the evening. Plastic and very lightweight yet very enclosed and feel pretty sturdy and so far have done great outside with no issues.

Motion sensor works great! Wish it were brighter though.

Its... okay. Debated between 3 and 4 stars. Really, it mounts well and its simple. The motion detector works great! The biggest problem is just that its kinda dim. We put this in the entry way of the house because its so dark there if the switch is off we thought extra light would really help. We do have solar lights (that are very bright) by the garage and security ones on the sides of the house but needed a battery operated one in the entry because the sun doesn't shine there. Unfortunately while it mounted easy and turns on well, the light is super blue and kinda dim. It's really not that easy to see things like which key on the key chain you're trying to get. But its still a lot better than no light. So...oh well. You can see what you think in the pictures showing it on and off.

Great for a dark pathway

I have a dark pathway behind my house and this light has truly helped out. Solar is not an option in this area. A set of good quality batteries have lasted months, with the light being tripped once or twice every night. Stays on long enough to get down the path, plus some. Good purchase!

Okay -- works fine -- lacks features

Have realistic expectations and this light works fine. It activates on motion, stays on for a short period of time, then turns off. During the day it stays off even if motion is sensed. Batteries last several weeks with 3-4 times per day activation. Light output is about as bright as a 2 D-Cell flashlight which is fine for a small area like a porch or closets. It isn't strong enough to replace any kind of outdoor security spotlight. I was going to use it outside until I noticed the battery compartment is not water waterproof due to no gasket. Now I'll use it inside to light up my basement boiler room when I first enter. This model as opposed to its larger brother doesn't have an on/off switch, motion on/off, brightness or any other switch for that matter. Also, you must remove screws to remove the battery cover which is somewhat inconvenient. My main problem with this light is the battery compartment cover is not waterproof. There is no gasket of any sort to keep water out. If used outside for any period of time in a climate which gets rain I expect water will eventually enter the battery compartment and short out or rust out the electrical components.
