Ring is not attached, but otherwise item works great

Mine arrived without the brand across the front, which I had noticed at least one person complained about. I, like several others, am a bit unhappy that the ring around the overflow valve comes off. I've only had it come off twice, and fell into the water, so it didn't cause any damage to my acrylic tub, or I would have been angry. I AM careful not to knock it, as I don't want any scratches in my new tub. But, I LOVE the fact that it gives me a total full tub to soak in. My new soaker tub was a disappointment because it came with an overflow valve where the holes were at the bottom. So, the tub didn't fill any fuller than my old, short tub! What use is that? I could find NO better overflow valves in the stores locally. Was pleased to find this one. I leave it closed at all times, because the markings on the front are so light that I can't see what they are to set it. So, I set it to closed once and left it. This item could be improved by fixing the markings and the ring coming off. Other than that, it does the job and I am pretty pleased.

Expected higher quality for listed price

This looks nice but is not of the quality I'd expect for the $40 price tag. It's metal-coated plastic and feels very cheap. When I turn the dial, the housing flexes and I'm not sure if the foam gasket is going to last long (fingers crossed). All said, installation is very easy. I purchased this used with some minor cosmetic flaws for around $15; I wouldn't pay any more for this.

Confusing at first but it does work

I recently moved into my late fathers house and have been slowly making changes here and there, so please don’t judge my bathroom too hard lol. I was disappointed to find out this product is plastic. But for the price I suppose that makes sense. You can’t tell unless you touch it anyway so house guests will likely never know Like many others I was confused about installation. At least there is an instruction sheet on this product page, but it is kinda small and hard to read from your phone. When I realized I just needed to take the face plate off to install, I had no idea how to go about it. I thought the little three prongs on the back would release it and broke a thumb nail trying to press them. Oops. Turns out it would have been easier to take a screwdriver or knife to gently pop the center plate out from the front. Don’t make the same mistake I did lol! So far I’ve only taken one bath but it’s the best I’ve had since moving in! The water stayed high and warm. I could hear a slight trickle from what I think was the overflow drain but if the water did drain any it wasn’t enough for me to notice. I hope this review and photos helps someone else have an easier time installing!

Nice plug

This was easy to install, no issues for me. The materials do feel a little cheap I was expecting more hefty materials but they work pretty well. It looks sleek but it does have a trickle leak. The leak is very slow though so I do not really notice a change in water level during bathing. I got this to replace the plastic suction covers.

Plastic

Brand name for this product is Westbrass, but except for the bolts all the parts are plastic. Feels like pretty wimpy plastic at that. Our home was built 70 years ago. I doubt this drain will make it through the next 70 the way the old drain did. So this is an experiment and I guess we'll see how it goes.

Neat idea

Installation/orientation can be confusing as you need to turn the outer ring until the opening is over the screw holes to install it, first to one side, then to the other, but easy once you figure it out. There are ZERO installation instructions included! In my case I was looking for something that would protect the screws and hopefully not rust in a matter of weeks - not so much for the functionality. Also, my tub is fairly square, so the foam gasket sealed properly but I’m thinking this would not work on a surface that is too curved. Either way, don’t over-tighten or the center piece will pop off and the unit will come apart. We’ll see if it lasts!

good idea, poor execution

As others have said, no install instructions, pretty cheap materials. Is a good idea, and works to allow higher fill level on tub, but should be brass, not plastic. For now it works, but I doubt it will last, and for the price the quality should be higher. To install, pop off the face plate with a screwdriver, taking care not to break or damage. Rotate to see one screw hole, and place screw. Then rotate carefully to view other screw hole, and place second screw. Replace face plate. It is possible to install upside down, so if it does not work properly remove screws, rotate 180 degrees, and install again. With higher quality materials and adequate install instructions, could be 5 stars.

Not perfect, but better than alternatives

It's pretty straight forward to install once you take it apart. It worked perfectly for a day, and then began to leak ever so slightly. It's slow enough that I genuinely don't notice it during long baths. It's the best looking and least janky solution I've found. It's not perfectly elegant, but I'm happy with it.

it works but...

i read all the reviews before purchasing the overflow cover, some people mentioned a faulty seal. Mine was no different so at least I was prepared. I took the thing apart to figure out how it worked and how I needed to install it which is when I noticed the seal that jumps out of its little track when I try to turn the cover to get a half or full closure. All i did was apply a tiny bit of gorilla glue around the track and let the seal dry in place. Once I did that and installed it, i have had no problems so far. The cover itself is made of some good quality metal and has a good weight to it which makes me believe it will last a long time. Here's hoping!

Package came without instructions on how to put it together. Even their website did not have any manuals. I was able to install it quite by fluke. Works as it should. Internal mechanism are of cheap plastic. I can see kids breaking it. External knob falls off easily. I gave it a 3 because overall it does what it is supposed to do.

Poor Quality

I usually don't write reviews but this product is a no go for potential buyers. First of all it is made out of plastic ( not mentioned in ad ) no metal except the bolts to install it . Secondly I have to take it apart to install it by prying back 3 tabs in the back not very flexible and eventually broke a tab trying to take it apart. Also once installed guess one has to break it off if one has to remove it. Liked the idea of no visible screws but actually bad design and way overpriced for quality, something one would find at a dollar store. Probably will buy a good quality one with visible screws on faceplate if I can get my money back .
