It does sharpen tools to my needs

Ok getting this out of the way Wobble Wobble Wobble Wobble. This is not a precision sharpening tool however I dressed the stone and while it does still wobble its surface is on the the same plane now as the tool support. the Polishing wheel wobbles as well but does not seem to be an issue I get a cutting edge that allows hand planes and chissel to produse a finished surface no sanding needed.

Works great

Initially was worried about the coarse grit and quality of the stone but it is more than good enough to quickly and easily get a hair popping edge with a near mirror finish in conjunction with the stropping wheel with green compound. Ended up just using the machine freehand and not messing with all the fixtures because I have an easier time matching the arc on curved edges not using them. If you are doing a straight edged or near straight edged blade the jigs would probably be amazing.

Frustrating close to being a good product

This product is one of those that frustrates me because it could be a very good product with a few minimal engineering changes. Positives : It is fraction of the cost of the well known competition. The wheel direction is reversible. Negatives : The accessory mount bar is low quality. There is too much play in the mechanism. When trying to tighten the bar in place, the bar tends to get out of parallel with the wheel. You have to hold the bar just right and tighten very carefully to keep it parallel. If you do not pay attention to this, flat blades like chisels can easily be sharpened so that they are not square. The bar is also too short by several inches. This makes using the jigs problematic in some cases as the jigs tend to slide off the end of the bar if trying to use all of the grinding wheel. The chisel jig is also very difficult to use. On a standard size chisel, you can not use the stops that are supposed to keep the chisel square to the wheel. There are two problems. The first is that the stops are on one end of the jig. If the chisel is in this position, you can not move the chisel across the entire width of the grinding wheel without the jig coming off the end of the accessory bar. The second problem is that a standard length chisel is too short for the jig to work properly. Only an extra long chisel will allow you to get the standard 25-30 deg chisel angle. Both of these could be easily fixed with some small engineering changes which is what makes this kind of product frustrating. I was able to work around this limitation by moving the chisel to the center of the jig and using a square to make sure it was square, but I should not have to do that. The motor is a little under-powered. For most cases, it works ok, but for larger tools like hatchets, you can actually slow the wheel to a stop if you push hard enough. I expect this for the price so it is not a big negative.

I had a problem - they had a solution

After realizing my units motor was malfunctioning, I gave this thing 1 star. But in no time flat, they had another unit arriving at my door, and it works perfectly. For this price, versus the cost of the Tormek, you just can't beat it. Does it work as well as the Tormek, no not really. But it works pretty dang well, and I didn't have to go get a loan to afford it.

Great tool- not a great stone

Great little water wheel for the price. Buy a truing stone/tool. My stone wheel was mounted slightly off-center (not too bad), and was badly out of square. The outside edge was about 1/16 lower than the inside edge and was not flat. The stone came with a slight dip in the middle. I was able to sharpen my chisels to a razors edge using this wheel and the scary sharp films, but it botched my 2" wide No 5 plane blade badly enough to require a couple of hours of grinding on the flatstones to true it. I ordered a truing stone and that should bring this baby up to a 5 Star. Too late for a better review, tho.

I wasted money on other sharpening options and should have bought this from the start

The media could not be loaded. Super easy to set up. I took a battered old chisel that was in poor condition and had it slicing through paper in about 10 minutes (video attached). The wheel drags up a fair bit of water that lubricates the stone well, and also keeps the chisel cool. The wheel wobbles a bit, and it's obviously not as good as the $1,600 kit from Sweden, but it got my chisel scary sharp on the first try with no effort at all. I recommend deburring the flat side of chisels on a separate sharpening stone, I found it quite awkward to do this part on the machine. You also need to be careful to tighten both sides of the blade holder equally or the blade will be rotated slightly and won't sharpen square on the end. Now I feel that I wasted money on flat stones, diamond stones and jigs. These things are all way too much effort and much less good results. The Wen is quick, easy and produces perfect results.

Como los más caros,,Muy bueno.

Este producto no tiene nada que pedirle a otros super caros, funciona para lo que fue hecho, Ya he afilado varios cuchillos y los deja como navaja de afeitar...solo es cuestión de práctica., Sin embargo, si es mejorable tanto la piedra como la rueda de asentar, pues si se ven de mediana calidad, pero repito, cumplen su función..creo que la relación calidad precio es mas que aceptable. Como mejoras recomendaría que tuvieran una piedra de amolar con un grano más fino, y un accesorio para emparejar la piedra tal como los vende la marca Sueca.. Ahora solo resta esperar que me dure mucho tiempo, de lo contrario modificaré mi comentario..

Muy útil y eficiente

Me encanta que puedo afilar todos los cuchillos de la casa sin casi nada de esfuerzo, solo es cuestión de práctica. Tengo una tormek t4 que es mucho mas cara, pero esta no esta para nada mal y hace lo mismo a un mejor precio. La recomiendo mucho!

Excelente, no sabes cuanto la necesitabas hasta que la tienes.

Reviví mis formones y cepillos y quedaron mejor que nuevos, el filo es como el de un cuchillo japonés y mis herramientas no son finas así que debería ser más difícil pero con este afilador es cuestión de unos minutos y listo, puedes rasurarte con un formon. Lleva un rato hacerlo sobretodo si la hoja tiene marcas o abolladuras, puesto que esta piedra es fina y no desbasta el metal rapido. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
