Happy pets

This is far too small to close an animal in. And, it’s completely closed in darkness. I purchased two of these for pigeon nests. The door is always opened. The pigeon family can come and go as they please into a much larger aviary. And, the babies are still in a safe nest away from the others.

Metal Hinge is an Option?

Besides the smell so chemically strong that I'm going to have to leave it in the yard to air out before I put my rabbit anywhere near it... apparently, the /metal/ hinge thingie to keep the lid open is an option? Mine came with a stick and a screw. If I didn't need that damned thing last week for a bunn we ran all over the place to rescue and get to a vet I'd return it and yell about crooks and mis-representation.

My bunny loves it!

Very cute and sturdy hutch for my bunny. The assembly was slightly difficult as it didn’t fit the way I thought it should. Had to look at the directions a few times but once I realized my error, everything else fit into place very easily. You need to watch out when you’re screwing on the hinges. There’s a screw that needs to be installed first as it’s nearly impossible to do after all the other screws are inserted. It may be logical for most people but I ended up having to rescrew the hinges. The only thing I dislike is that the roof of the hutch is made up of what looks like actual roofing material. I keep mine inside my home and there are always pieces of it coming loose and falling on the ground. A minor inconvenience.

Very nice!

I used to work in a parts department and have experience putting things together. I will admit this had parts that holes were not drilled properly etc., but it was nothing I couldn’t figure out and fix myself. Once together it is very sturdy and gives warmth for my cat that likes to go outside sometimes and it gets cool at night. Looks tasteful and nice in my backyard too! Excellent and the price can’t be beat!!!

Manufacturer stands behind product!

I love these. I have 3 on my covered porch with heater mats & straw inside, for my outdoor only cats. I removed the door/ramp because they don't need them. They are so cute & match my house, they're solid wood & the price is great. I had to get more than one because they all wanted to sleep in the first one. My cats only tolerate each other, and these houses are too small for more than one cat, anyway, so they can't share them. The 2nd cat house I ordered broke while assembling. There was a knot in one of the front legs & it snapped off. I contacted the manufacturer (Trixie) to request a replacement front panel, with pics of the broken leg. Without any questions, they responded quickly with apology & tracking # for the replacement. I was so surprised when an entire new cat house arrived! I definitely recommend these. Very cozy with an outdoor approved pet heating pad! I'm not sure how they'd do exposed to direct rain/weather, but my first one was out in Pacific Northwest winter on the covered porch & still looks new.

Homeless Guinea Pigs

The construction was solid, Guinea Pigs loved being in there, in fact had to keep shooing them out for the exercise. Use as a day run hutch only. I have given it 3 stars only, because of the way the roof is made. The hinge was fine and the roof stayed up, however, the felt on the top of the lid was stretched quite tightly over the lid and held in place by the 'frame' to the lid. The felt in one place hardly noticeable pulled out from the frame, and allowed water in thus destroying the lid. The ply's separated, and a rather luxurious growth of some fungal type of golden blanket to appear on the underside of the lid. If the lid had stayed waterproof I would have given it 5 stars. Those who mark it down because it was too small cannot have read the measurements, I bought it because the measurements were what I wanted.

Nice size and construction

I would start by saying the delivery service was awful. I stayed in all day waiting for it to arrive, thinking the delivery hadn't come only for my neighbour to knock at the end of the day saying I had a box at my back door. Yes, Yodal had not bothered to knock on my door and decided to dump it on my back doorstep. Not helpful. The house itself is pretty cool, good solid wood construction which was easy to put together (says I who had my other half knock it together!). The downside, my rabbits don't want to go in it because of the strong smell of the wood protection. It smells like a creosoted shed. Now my guinea pigs on the other did like it. So much so that they decided they liked the taste of it resulting in one of the guinea pigs needing £150s worth of veterinary treatment. A piece of wood lodged in my guinea pig's mouth causing a horrible ulcer. Not good. The guinea pigs are now banned from going near it. It would be a good rabbit house if it didn't smell so bad.

Good solid small shelter

We use this as a small shelter for our rabbits fitted against the outdoor play pen specifically advertised with this shelter (see link below). It works perfectly in that context - the drop-down door does go neatly through into the pen. Nicely made and finished and is as good as pictured. If using for rabbits I recommend either resting a weight on the top, or adding a catch to the lid to stop them pushing up the lid and escaping! It's not big enough for a permanent home for rabbits - only as added shelter. SeeLarge Rabbit Run Fox Proof Cage For use with Or without hutch.

CAT HOME

This was purchased as an outdoor shelter for our two feral wildcat crossbreeds who appeared in our garden one day and decided to stay.. It arrived and was as described, It was easily assembled by one person,with some "help" from my Cocker Spaniel who fitted into it when it was fully assembled. It has been outside for some months now and has withstood rain,hail,snow,frost and heavy winds. It would be useful to have a catch to secure the lid but I placed a large stone on top of the roof. My only problem was that the front door did not fit as well as the rest of the hutch and it swells in damp weather rendering it somewhat useless as a door, having to remain open.On the whole a very good item, it still looks good.

Nightmare!

The hinge that holds the roof to the "house" was fitted on the wrong way completely, and is quite impossible to re-site unless you are good with carpentry, which I am not ! I am going to have to wait till I go into work to get the lovely odd job man to chisel out a new position for the hinge so that the roof will sit correctly as it should, the base has about a 2cm gap at the back too, why it is not a snug fit I really don't know?? I would send this back, but can't be bothered with the hassle.... So unless you are a real DIY enthusiast, I would not recommend you buy this mini hutch!
