great alternative to legos - keeps kids busy for hours

bought this for my nephew for Christmas. He loves it. But he is also the kind of kid who can sit and concentrate on a meticulous task for hours. It takes patience to assemble and the directions are not always as clear as they could be. I recommend getting some zip lock bags to store the pieces in between use - there are a ton of tiny pieces that can easily be lost if you are not careful.

Versatile and good teaching tool for mechanics

Got this for my son and he really enjoy putting together. I would give 5 stars, however, the battery lid doesn’t close well so battery kept falling out. Otherwise this is comparable to any of the Lego STEM toys

Great product

My 5 year daughter loved this, and shes not a huge fan of Legos, this kept her attention. But pieces are sometimes too hard for her to squeeze together for her age, but I'm glad it doesn't just come apart. Built two of the animals so far.

Not worth it. Cheap plastic.

We built this with our 5 year old. Shortly after assembly of the first bot, it was dropped a very short distance onto carpet and a key piece snapped and broke. It’s made of cheap plastic. The gears are not smooth and it’s very loud. I would not recommend.

Educational and also fun

I got this as a gift for my young niece, and she was very excited about the idea that the robots will move once she builds them. She's a little younger than the suggested age, so she'll definitely need her parents' help putting this together, but it seems like a really fun activity for them to do.

Great creative toy

We got this for an almost 4 year old that likes challenging building things and robots. She can't build it on her own yet, but can with help, and loves playing with each design for a day or two before building the next. The screw for the motor piece to secure batteries was missing. We used tape to secure. When making the stomp bot, that bot doesn't always operate and we thought it was the battery pack shaking lose. It is not. It is just the design. The rest of the bots have operated as expected. Such a fun creative kit for a really reasonable price. If you have a builder - this is awesome.

Great toy for father and son to assemble

It was a family project. Also great to hold the interest of a nine year old while school is on Christmas break.

Disappointed

I gave this to my 5 year old son for Christmas. Saying it's for ages 5+ is ridiculous. This your is difficult for me to assemble! My thumbs ache from pushing the little pieces together. I had to use a knife to pry the pieces apart so we could make a different animal. The concept is great, but as the building is most of the fun, and even my 8 year old couldn't do that by himself, it's not age appropriate.

Avoid!!

Avoid!! I was not very impressed with thos product. The pieces are difficult to push together as you really need strength to push them into place. A 5 year olds hands are not that strong. The instructions are also not great for a young child to follow, they should be broken down into more simple steps, like Lego does. Once assembled, it was great (we built the unicorn) but as soon as we turned it on, the it was so noisy that we couldn't bear to leave it on for more than a few seconds. The actual movement is not very smooth either. I can't imagine taking it apart and building another model because the pieces are quite tightly stuck together. I battled to undo just one piece when we made a mistake. So this is likely to go back in the box and never be looked at again. Very disappointing and a waste of money.
