It works.... eventually!

Original 2022 Review I wanted to add a positive review after seeing that all the top listed reviews for this product are negative. Up front: it's cheap - about 30% cheaper than the stuff I can get at my pool store). The product description is slightly inaccurate - it's 98% CYA not 100% (didn't matter to me) Like all the reviews say it is GLACIALLY slow at dissolving in pool water. For me it took one old pair of gym socks, one seven pound bag of this stuff, a couple of zip ties and a week of patience, once the CYA-stuffed-socks were tossed in the skimmer. I got the stabilizer raise I expected from the volume of product I added. If you have the time, this stuff does work. UPDATED FOR 2023 I purchased another bag of this because..... it's that time of year! Same experience: the product is S.L.O.W to dissolve, but it works. 2 weeks in the skimmers in athletic socks (the same bright green ones as last year) and this stuff is gone and my CYA reading is up with the level of increase I would expect from 7lbs of product. So what's the bottom line. * If you are the kind of person who wants to increase your CYA by throwing this into the bottom of your pool, or poring it directly into a skimmer so it goes in your filter - this is not the product for you. It's too slow to dissolve. * If you are the kind of person who wants to boil water and stir and wait and boil and stir and wait until you can add it to the pool already dissolved - this is not the product for you. It's too slow to dissolve. * If you want/need a quick increase in CYA - this is not the product for you. It's too slow to dissolve. * If you have a bit of time (10-14 days) and a couple of old socks - this product works and it's cheap. I will be back form more next year. (To the very few reviewers out there that are getting NO CYA increase from this product, maybe a bad batch or maybe user error? That has not been my experience either time)

Great value compared to others, but this stuff is much slower to dissolve than others.

Still dissolving!

I literally stopped and ordered the Intex skimmer so I never have to try and dissolve this again! Other reviews did not exaggerate! Over 2 hours and not dissolved.

Works great!!!!

Works great! Put in an old sock and tied it shut. Put in my filter basket. I only used about 1/2 cup at a time to make sure the levels didn’t go up too much.

Can’t believe this actually works

Been having trouble with chlorine levels in my 13,000 gallon pool for years. Been 6 weeks since I used the stabilizer and levels have been great. Haven’t had to shock my pool during that time either. Happy this worked!

Takes a lot of product and time to dissolve

You need to use a lot of product for a large pool. It takes a long time to dissolve. I’d look for a liquid product next time. Does it’s job just painful getting it into the pool.

Does not dissolve

Have had this sitting in a bucket of water for 6 weeks and it hasn’t dissolved at all. Kind of works still as I just put the water from the bucket into the pool to raise cya, but would not recommend
