So disappointed in the sole material!

I've worn Reef Girls Slaps (purchased in surf shops and even at an Ace Hardware), all day, almost every day, for many years. They were very comfortable and durable. The last time I tried to purchase new ones, I was told that they had been "discontinued a few years ago". I've not been able to find any other flip-flops that I like as well so, when the years old strap pulls out again, I will just have to glue it again :-( Recently I "Googled" them and some showed up on Amazon; I immediately ordered two pairs! But now I am so disappointed! I could feel through the shipping bags that the soles are made of a harder material and seemed lighter in weight. I opened one bag and also saw that they don't have the colored stripe down the length of the sole like the original ones. I didn't even bother to try them on. I'm now wondering if being called "Reef Girls Slaps 3 means that the "3" indicates a change in the sole material. I am returning both pair as soon as I find out to get a shipping label for the 'free returns".

Comfortable from the start, good sole. I am a size 7 shoe but bought a size 6 in these. They spread out after a bit of wear
