Works great! My water doesn't smell any more!

We have well water. Was starting to get the strong sulfur smell. A professional water person suggested I go from a nylon white filter to this one. They wanted to sell me one and install it for $80 bucks. I said, "No thank you. I will order it on Amazon and install it myself." In a matter of a few minutes of the water running the smell completely disappeared.

Works "Well on the Well". I would provide a FIVE STAR rating if not for the fact the filter itself (if not changed out regularly) introduces unique smells into the water supply. Upgraded from the cellulose-based (carbon powder activated) filters provided by the same manufacturer to this NON CELLULOSE carbon impregnated filter. The product is employed on one of the three wells we have on the property to provide household water to the residence. Configuration: Legend: Water Flow >> Well >> 10 Micron Sediment / Whole House Filter >> Pentek NCP-20 Pleated Carbon Impregnated Filter >> Water Softening System >> 5 Micron Final Finishing Filter >> Distribution Pipes to Various Household Rooms >> Separate Distribution to 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis System (serving refrig and other drinking outlets) Results: reduced "bad odor" and sediment acceptably well for a period of approximately 60 days. We live "on" the Chesapeake Bay so brackish water infiltration is common. The product is obviously dealing with sediment, bacteria of all sorts, salt, sand, ground water runoffs, and other contaminants. If you don't change it out within this interval (may vary depending on your contaminants and configuration), the odor along with some Pentek NCP-20 GENERATED related smells will be evident. The reason I point this out is prior to installation we did not experience the odd Pentek NCP-20 related smells. Keep the remove and replace interval at acceptable levels and the product should perform acceptably well.

We have cistern water and use pentair filters to ensure good water.

ok but filters seem to getting more costly every time I irder.

Use on moterhome. Works to fiter out larger imputities and improves tast but I still use a 2nd filter for drinking and icemaker to remove bacteria etc.

I'm very happy so far and haven't noticed a drop in water ...

Replaced our fridge Brita. This is part of a larger pre- and post- filter system including UV and a pH neutralizer. I'm a very happy so far and haven't noticed a drop in water pressure. We are on well water so keep that in mind. In my honest opinion, you probably shouldn't use this as both a sediment and a carbon filter. This filter will do fine for a long time as long as you put pre-filters before. I have two filters before it. The first is a washable 30 micron sediment filter. The second is a 25/1 micron spun filter than this carbon filter (10 micron). Our well water always had a bad taste which is why we used Brita filters for almost a decade but this has eliminated that issue and we've easily passed more than 500 gallons through this filter. Of course, everything depends on water quality. We had low pH water (5.7) with low TDS (~60). You really need to evaluate your own situation or hire a professional to do for you.

Failed in less than 2 weeks

I bought this because my regular carbon filter was out of stock and needed something sooner. Worked fine for about a week then the water pressure started getting lower and within a week of that the odour of the metals in our water were very noticeable. I do not recommend this filter, use the carbon block filter by the other company they last for easily 6 months and are actually better priced.

Did not last long

Purchased this 10 micron filter 87 days ago and the water tastes like it is unfiltered (wasn't even good day one honestly). I historically always purchased the 0.5 Micron version but wanted to save money...well...now I ordered another 0.5 micron.

Buy other filters

I purchased a number of Pentek filters this spring for the cottage. I was hoping to benefit from the ability to wash them. The performance of the cartridges was TERRIBLE. I had then in order 20 micron, 5 micron and then carbon. The 20 let through large particles, as did the 5 to the point of stuffing the carbon filter in less than 1 month (and our water is quite clean). Don't waste your money.

Don't get this for taste or smell

I've used multiple different carbon filters and they have all removed the chlorine and bad taste from my water without issue, This one however seems to do nothing. I'm sure it's filtering out particles and whatnot, but as far as taste and smell, don't bother.
