Buy multiples if you cook a lot - this WORKS!

We have been working to incorporate more vegetables into our diet, and that's meant in our case a lot of salads, but not American lettuce-based salads... salads in the European sense of vegetables, cold or lightly cooked and served cool, in combination with fresh herbs and seasonings. As such, we've always got mint, flat-leaf parsley, scallion tops, thyme, tarragon, basil, and other herbs and greens in the fridge. They'll stay better if you put them in a zip lock bag with a damp paper towel, but they still wilt and blacken or get slimy after a couple of days. By contrast, these herb keepers will keep things fresh and crisp and healthy for a full week, sometimes ridiculously longer if you keep the water fresh. We've literally had cilantro for *three weeks* kept fresh and healthy by changing the water every ~3 days, using only filtered water (i.e., free of chlorine from the tap), and using kitchen scissors to trim the bottoms every few days to allow them to keep drinking. Some herbs - like culantro - just don't do well once unpackaged, but most do, and this has more than paid for itself with not having to throw out 2/3 of a bunch of herbs because we couldn't use them all at once. We have 3 at present, all full. It means we can make a salad with fresh herbs on Sunday, and again on Wednesday, and again on Friday, without having to go to the store. I can't speak highly enough of these containers - they really work, and they work better than any home-made hack contraption I've tried. Note: the top doesn't clip/snap onto the bottom, as you don't want an airtight seal - i think that's part of the reason it works. But this can lead to the top popping off in the fridge if it gets bumped. You can secure it with a standard size rubber band that still allows for a minimal amount of air transfer, but secures the lid.

Fresh Herbs, anyone?

I love having my basil, oregano, dill fresh. This container so far has been great keeping them that way. It won’t hold a lot but big enough for my needs. And saves me from an extra shopping trip to buy another fresh batch.

Works as advertised

This works great and keeps fresh herbs fresh for a long time. No more throwing away rotten herbs after you use them once. I’ve used with rosemary, thyme, sage so far and it works as advertised. Well worth the money.

Great little item; works effectively, though I wish the lid would stay on

This little item has proven a great addition to my food storage, specifically for onion chives or herbs set in a tiny bit of water in the bottom to stay hydrated, with air circulating around the basket above so greens don't turn slimy or rot lying in the water. My only complaint is that the lid is loose rather than 'snapping on' or holding closed firmly, so whenever I tip it slightly coming out of the back of the fridge shelf, the lid falls off and I have to retrieve it. If the manufacturer provided a more secure lid closure, I'd give it 5 stars.

Amazed at how well it keeps herbs fresh

Pros: - You can tell it is made with quality plastic. - It is lightweight, and easy to lift the basket holder out of the container. - It's slim and not too tall, so it's easy to find a place in the fridge for it. - It really does keep my herbs (I really only buy either parsley or cilantro) fresher for longer. I was previously using a mason jar with some water at the bottom. The mason jar did well, but this OXO container has been keeping my cilantro fresh for at least 3 weeks now. The trick is really to use this container and not rinse the herb until you want to use it. Cons: - Minor: It is on the small side, but that's just the size I bought. I can hold a typical bunch of cilantro or parsley (I'm from Ontario, Canada, so I hope our herb bunches you can get at the grocery store are standard), but it's tight. It feels like it can better fit a half bunch of cilantro/parsley/whatever. I still just stuff the entire bunch in, and it stores it just fine. So this is probably personal preference. Would I buy this again? - Absolutely! I am planning on buying the larger size when it comes in stock. Shipping (not affecting review score): - Was on time with no issues.

Saves my store bought herbs

My store bought herbs are lasting almost a week stored in this greensaver! Now I can use those herbs longer rather than the couple of days which was the usual time before they drooped and started drying up. It does take some time to snip the herbs and put them in the box but it's worth the few minutes.

not the best

Not really the best. It works but its not that tall (and yes I knew the measurement before buying). Half the time I can't be bothered using it, to be honest.
