A lovely slightly larger (13.5") version of Barbie with very nice quality

I have purchased one each of six different versions of the 2023 13.5" My First Barbie (four standard dolls, and two boxed sets) plus all of the individual outfits that I've been able to find either in stores or here on Amazon. I have been working with dolls for more than 30 years, and grew up having Barbies as well. The quality of the 13.5" dolls really goes back to what we haven't seen in literal decades. The knees and elbows actually click-bend, and the hair fibre used is excellent quality. The entire body has a soft vinyl feel, and while this type of body can tend to pick up lint (easy to wipe clean with a soft cloth, mild soap and water) it isn't so cold for a child's hands. The body has molded-on bra and panties that are not painted (paint would not last long on the soft body anyway) for modesty. The figure has a wider waist by comparison to similar 11.5" Barbies, so if enlarging patterns for 23 My First you will have to adjust the waist. The hands are molded with fingers and thumb all together (the "mitten" hand) which is easier to dress, but it isn't an unappealing hand sculpt. The outfits each come with a small stuffed "pillow pet", which is cute. The shoes are all slit in the back heel to make putting them on and off easier. A small pinch of corn starch or baby powder inside the shoe or on the foot can help with putting shoes on soft vinyl feet as well. Each outfit contains a unique accessory as well, such as a purple balloon on a stick for the birthday set, an adorable hat for the swim set, etc. The clothes themselves are not detailed outfits, but rather have printed-on details and full back opening hook and loop tape fasteners. While I'd love to see more detailed outfits for the dolls, these are totally geared towards little ones and they are wonderful with that in mind. The facial screening is friendly and appealing. The eyes feel just slightly oversized on all of the dolls (regardless of skin tone) but they have very happy, engaging faces overall. The darkest skin tone doll has freckles, and I think she is one of my favourites. I hope this line is successful and continues, as I believe it has been very well done and has appeal for both children and doll collectors. I'm very happy with all of the items I have purchased so far.

YESSSSS! A doll for toddlers...FINALLY!

OMG, YES! Im so excited that they came with a toddler barbie!!!! I was hooked on barbies for the longest time growing up, so im excited that I get to start this phase even earlier. Too bad this wasn't out years ago when my older kids were small. Either way I'm so excited to play barbies with both my younger kids now, instead of waiting until nap time! My 2 year old is always stealing her older sister's barbies, causing chaos...so I got her this for her 2nd birthday. She LOVES it and I don't have to worry so much about the small parts (except for the shoes). I ended up putting the shoes up for now until she learns not to put them in her mouth, otherwise it's perfect. The arms/legs are posable as well which makes play time that much more fun. Highly recommend for a first time barbie!

My toddler LOVES this

Perfect for my Barbie obsessed toddler. It’s a good size for her little hands and has held up super well from her constant play. I did have to pull Barbie’s hair back though lol. It got crazy tangled quick.

Cute, but why?

Although she’s cute, she’s not necessary. She does not have a variety of clothing to play with siblings, and the clothing that fits their siblings. Dolls won’t fit hers. She’s just a regular big doll. Sometimes you just have to wait until you’re old enough.

Loved the hair! Shiny & thick. She doesn't bend as much as the modern Barbie but little people are not that interested. Is heavier as well. Stands easily with a prop. Clothes are wholesome & cute. Solid shoes for feet. Cute accessories. A must buy.

Bigger than a standard size.

Lovely Barbie Doll larger than usual size and with larger accessories as well.More rubbery than others ones which is great as it more flexible and bendable without snapping.Nice looking package with a minor default,there’s no plastic or foil cover on the top so it’s a bit inappropriate for a gift.

My First "bigger" Barbie

Good start first barbie. Bigger for those young one to get familiarise with the Barbie world. Taller with longer hair, and comes with bigger comb for a bit of styling. The cloths/dresses are bigger and only compatible with the First series. As good fun as the normal one. Price also about double of the normal one, which is slightly steep at £27.

Adorable

This is such a brilliant gift idea for smaller children. It's only a little bigger than a standard Barbie but it's made of more rubbery material. It's easy for little hands to be able to dress and move around. Obviously being bigger you won't be able to mix and match outfits with other Barbie's but I'm sure that's fine. Very happy with it.
