No instruction sheet, really?
I purchased this shoulder immobilizer after surgery for a complete tear in a rotary cuff and tear in the upper bicep tendon. The other immobilizer i already had did not have the abduction pillow my Doc requested, so I ordered this one from Amazon. I appreciated that the seller followed through with the surcharged next-day delivery on a Saturday. Upon opening the box, the lack of an instruction/safety sheet was unbelievably disappointing! No PDF for such anywhere on the Net (incl Medline), so I had to wing it. With circular metal rings and velcro strips coming at me from every angle, it was a trial and error effort to get the best results. And let me tell you, with the shoulder pain I was in, especially the first couple days, I was not happy. Even today, a week later, the PT guy told me to bring the sling around to the front of my torso more. The other thing that I found really annoying, was that the pillow, which is box-shaped, and about the size of a loaf of bread, digs into the inner arm the whole time. They should soften the leading edge angle of the pillow. Even shaving 10 degrees off would help. It is a 90 degree corner, with heavy-duty velcro (that accepts actual sling). This mounted velcro tab pokes the arm too! Other than that, the build-quality is good. Without an instruction/safety sheet, this product does not reserve a high mark. At the very least, have some backup instruction/safety sheets on-line that can be easily found. And work on softening the edge of the pillow. Wearing an immobilizer for 2 months is a long time if it's not as comfortable as it could be. Recovering from painful shoulder surgery is serious business. Medline could improve this product with little effort in order to make a patient's recovery all the better.

Wow! Made such a difference!
I had one of these when I had shoulder surgery. My daughter recently had a very bad shoulder dislocation. They only gave her the small sling. She kept having such pain from the weight pulling on her shoulder. I got her this. She is still working and doing a lot of data entry and this has really helped with the pain and aching.

Not what we expected
This item was flimsy, not at all what we needed. Had rotator cuff surgery and was looking for an second sling so the one from the hospital could be washed. The one we have is not great but this was much worse. Did not feel that it gave support needed. We returned it and received a prompt refund.
