Good Quality Dress but Too Small
I waited and waited to buy this dress. It came in the mail and I found it to be too small to go over my bust. I ordered an XL. The rib cage area of the dress seemed closer to a L versus an XL. The fabric is thick which I like. But not much give in the fabric. I attempted to exchange the dress to a 2XL but that size wasn't an option even though it is in option on the sales page. Gary's designs rock!!! Hopefully, I can find another piece to wear. :)

Loved Gary - loved this dress on TV - love this dress more in person
I wore this dress for the first time today - a perfect warm first day of Autumn! This could be a year-round dress, probably but it's just right for fall. The colors are great. I was in the city of Boston and got compliments everywhere I went from strangers (as well as friends). The fit is wonderful. It's flattering. It's original and eye catching without being obnoxious. I would say the only thing I would change would be the addition of pockets. This would be my favorite dress of all time with pockets. Let me tell you why I say that. I am NOT a big "pocket fan." However, this dress has a LOT of fabric to it. Also--important to note--the fabric is rather heavy and somewhat stiff, almost akin to a light canvas or woven sailcloth--sort of like a very very light awning material. Don't let this put you off. It doesn't LOOK like canvas, but it is not swishy flowy material in the least. THEREFORE, given that there is a lot of fabric in the skirt and given that it is a heavier material, it would be incredible to have pockets because the fabric would be stuff enough for any objects in your pocket not to fall out. AND it is the type of dress---again, I am not typically a pockets fan---where the wearer would look very cool and awesome with their hands in pocket. In any case, no pockets but not an issue. I wore the dress with tights and boots and a bolero sweater (not pictured) and it looked cute. I am 5'4" tall and usually weight 125lbs (and wear a Small). BUT currently have 65 lbs of COVID weight and am at 190lbs(!!!!). Wearing a size Large in these photos, and it fits like a dream. I loved designer Gary--as a personality and as a BRILLIANT creative force--and am so thankful to be able to purchase this original gorgeous fun playful dress.

Excellent!!!
I bought this item several months ago but wore it for the first time last week. It is classy, modest and absolutely gorgeous! The material is "jeans-like" so it is definitely appropriate for the Florida Winter. I received so many compliments! I really hope that this designer will produce more of this type of dress.

Wonderful dress in the show, not quite the same look from the store
I absolutely fell in love with this dress on the show and was cheering so hard for Gary to win so I could get this. I didn't care for the jacket at all, but this dress looked amazing, the textile, the style and the fit would be perfect for me, aligned with what I usually wear and goes with pieces I already have. I'm 5'8" and 155lbs, usually wear M, but ordered L out of abundance of caution. It fits OK over my upper body, but seems that if I lose a couple of pound it will be a bit baggy. The fabric is stretchy and I think now that this dress should be bought true to size. The textile design is excellent, very vibrant and reminds me of viking shields, rather than carnival something. "In person" this part didn't disappoint. My issue is that the skirt actually looks much longer on me than it looked on the show and on the models on this site. It was quite a letdown. I'm seriously debating taking scissors and cutting 3-4 inches. It goes below my knee and it is the longest dress in my wardrobe. It is a colder weather dress, however, so may be just keep it as is so I could feel warm.

Lovely dress but the zipper makes me sad
I love the design of this dress. As other reviewers mention, the fabric is substantial, and the print is, of course, fantastic. I am 5'5'', about 135 pounds, tiny on top, and curvy on the bottom. This dress is made for my body type. I initially bought a small. I thought it was a little bit too roomy, so I ordered an extra small to compare. For me, XS was an absolute winner. BUT... The zipper is such a mess and makes me sad. On the S, I was already concerned because the tiny zipper struggled against the weight of the fabric. Trying to unzip it once I had it on, I was nervous I was going to break the zipper which is just so delicate. The fragile zipper almost made me give up on the dress entirely, but I loved it so much, I ordered the XS and crossed my fingers the zipper would not be a problem. When the XS arrived, the zipper was defective! I couldn't zip it down any further than about 6 inches because of a tiny bend in the zipper teeth. I tried to fix it myself by carefully manipulating the zipper, but I couldn't get it to budge. Despite the zipper issue, I managed to squeeze my head and torso into the XS and could see I love the design and the fit is perfection. So, again I persisted and ordered a replacement XS. I await that final dress, and I hope the zipper at least works.

Excellent Quality
I tend to lean towards vintage/pinup styles so I've been excited about purchasing Gary's dresses. He adds that vintage touch. This dress...pros: It's true to size. I'm 36-29-39 and a medium fits me very well. The material is very heavy--the wind will blow it but not all the way up--and the print looks like real wood. The detail in the print is stunning. It doesn't need a belt because of the "frayed" looking seam where the bodice meets the skirt. I was concerned at first--I saw somewhere this dress referred to as a drop waist, and I feared that meant an 80s style waist that goes closer to the hips, but this falls at my exact waistline. The con: It's awful long on me. I'm 5'3 or 5'4 and it goes 4 to 5 inches under my knees rather than falling at my knees like models shown. Suggest they offer this dress in two different lengths.

Beautiful Dress
Just like other customers, I bought this after seeing it in Making The Cut and loving Gary’s designs. It is a beautiful dress and identical to the one you see on the show. The quality of the fabric is very good ( a good weight to it ) and hangs beautifully. I followed the size guide and it fits perfectly. Really glad I purchased this. The only disappointment is that everything is labelled ‘ Making The Cut’ on the bag and clothing. It would be nice to see Gary get some credit for the garments we purchase, but I suppose we can do that by buying and wearing them.

Totally in love with this dress
I would not normally go for this silhouette, but I loved the print so decided to try it. I'm so glad I did as it's an incredibly flattering fit, and I'm really impressed with the quality of fabric and construction for the price. I am a UK size 10-12 and bought both size Small and Medium to try and the Small fits perfectly. Having checked out the measurements on the chart I would say the sizing runs a little larger than the chart shows.

Love this dress
Love the carnival dress so glad I could order it after watching Making the Cut, Gary was my favourite designer. I vary between a uk size 22 - 24 so ordered the 2xx and it fits great. The material was a better quality than I was expecting it is quite thick which will be perfect in Autumn. My son says it matches my personality as it is quirky like me.

Beautiful dress, great fabric placement
This dress fits perfectly, I ordered my normal size and it was perfect. The print placement on the front makes my waist look smaller. The weight of the fabric is great so is the length So happy with my purchase
