Apparently working

It works as an outlet. Let's face it, I won't know whether it was worth purchasing until it actually saves my refrigerator from a "power bump" - or doesn't. Hence, I can give it only a four star rating at this point (since it is expensive it turns out to be only an outlet). I will say that, with my house wiring being 38 years old, I did have a question about wiring it - to make sure I made no mistakes that would negate its surge suppressor function. I called the Leviton number on the packaging, and they were very helpful.

This thing installs just like a GFCI receptacle

After losing the main board on my high-end refrigerator, I wanted a surge protector but didn't want to have any dangling cords with toggle switches hiding behind the fridge collecting dust. This thing installs just like a GFCI receptacle, protects other receptacles down line (if wired correctly), and occupies the same space as a regular receptacle. Think I'll be updating the receptacles for my washer/dryer next, and will probably start swapping out receptacles where I currently have all these power strips with surge as well. I give these 5 stars!

great solution to a ever growing problem

This is a great solution to all of us who want to hang their plasma tv on a wall and hide the electrical wire but still get surge protection. The way this works is that you install this instead of a regular outlet near your plasma then you take power from this ( it has a power take off )surge protector to power an outlet behind the plasma. By doing this you give your self surge protection right at the plasma tv. Works Great. An easy solution to a complicated problem.

Washer and dryer protection.

I used this surge protection outlet to protect my Maytag washer and dryer as they have multiple electronic circuit boards in them. I felt it was cheap insurance against electrical surges. I would have bought it at my local Home Depot store but they only had 15 amp outlets and I was on a 20 amp circuit. Thus the need to find a 20 amp outlet. Installation was as easy as changing any outlet.

read answer to questions before purchase

bought this for a refrigerator. instructions say"DO NOT INSTALL unless there is 30 ft or more of wire between outlet and electrical panels" this should be in description not in answers to questions

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH GFCI CIRCUITS!

Just re-read all description and no where does it say this will trip a GFCI. It does was doing a basement install (unfinished so GFCI is required) and all outlets check out ok until I installed this one for a wall mounted TV. GFCI immediately faults as soon as power is added. NOTE GFCI is LEVITON aswell.
