Cute, but the sparkles are coming off and are all over the house!

Bought this for my 4 year old for Halloween. This thing is LONG. When I say LONG I mean it is L-O-N-G. My 4 year old is in the 98% in height for her age. She is 44" tall and I bought her the girls size XS (equivalent to girls size 4-5) and this was about 12" too long for her. I fixed it myself by bunching it up around the waist and sewing it so it looked like I had an innertube around her! It was cute though and I still give it 4 stars because I was able to fixt it myself. My only complaint now is that she has this dress in her costume box and wears it practically every day. The sparkles are falling off and are all over the place at times. Not a big deal to vacuum up in my opinion so I'm sticking with the 4 stars. In the end ------ just know it's long and it sheds sparkles. If you can life with that, it's a decently well made product. For $20 on Amazon I'm willing to put up with that!

Great quality but super long

I really like the look and quality of this mermaid costume. I ordered a little bit smaller than she normally wears after reading the reviews it runs big and it was super long dragging on the ground but everywhere else fit fine. I had to take the middle part up so she wasn't dragging it all over the ground all night. The material is nice quality and not cheap looking in my opinion. Overall great costume knowing it may be too long and may need to be shortened.

Prettier in person however not true to size! Comes extremely big -very baggy & too long!

My daughter just turned 6 years old in June 2014 but wears a size 7/8 because she is tall, however she is average in weight so I bought the size Small 6-8 & this costume was HUGE on her! It is extremely long and baggy all over. I say it fits her more like a sz 8-10. Seriously, I held this costume up to myself (I am 5'2) & my ankles were barely showing...my daughter would be tripping all over the tail *dangerous* and the costume wouldbe ruined from dragging. I am slightly disappointed but Halloween is still a little ways away so I'll have time to buy a new one in a smaller size. I will say other than the fit the costume is nice. The colors, sequins, as well as glitter/shimmer on the tail is much more vibrant and appealing in person verses the stock photo.

Granddaughters loved costume

I wish I could give this product five stars, just based on how much my granddaughters loved wearing them. Unfortunately, the sparkles on the "tail" come off easy and leave sparkles all over the place. If it weren't for that happening, I would be happy with the costume.

Cute Costume.

Very Cute and original. After two years my daughter still plays dress-up in it and it has held up pretty well. I will say it has an awkward fit at the top for a child and it was very long for a small - but I guess that was intentional to cover up shoes. I had to fold it along the waist and secure it so it was safe for my daughter to trick or treat in. Now at 7 the length fits her fine but the arms pinch.

Sizes wrong

As others have said it does run very large. My daughter is a size 7 so that is what I got. I'd say it was about 2 sizes bigger than that. I was able to shorten it up a bit and it will work fine. The bottom flairs out a lot more than I was expecting so I'm a little concerned of it being a fire hazard near pumpkins. My 7 year old loves it though.

It’s okay

It’s alright. My daughter hates sleeves so she only kept in on for a minute. A few of the sequins came off in that time. I of course missed my return window by one day. Luckily I bought it for cheap

Modest and cute

Runs a tad long. Or at least it seemed like it was a but too long for us. Order a size down, perhaps. This would be a good costume for occasional use, but the fins wore down quickly with my daughter stepping on them. Overall, we liked the look and added a floral lei to complete the ensemble. The shells can come off of the headband. The sleeves on this costume were more comfortable for a chilly Halloween than a sleeveless option!
