Great Deadbolt & Knob combo

Bought 3 sets mainly because of the Smartkey feature. Got a 3 dead/knob sets under 1 key. Each set comes with its unique pair of keys so I have 2 other unique pairs of keys that I can use later to reprogram the lock.

Not good

Bad for installation. One screw was already bad not tighting. Bad after installation. I surprised that Amazon creat this quality of products.

instructions tiny and hard to read

I have installed enough doorknobs in my time. I looked over the paper it came with. putting in the master lock was no problem. The doorknob was a whole nother issue. first of all, the latch bolt. I had to enlarge just a bit the hole in the door for it to fit. Never had that issue before. So got that done. then the doorknob. It would have been nice if something said "don't take out the screws from the knob. It was later "being as my eyes are not as good as they used to be" and little writing and pictures don't help. So, when I finally saw this, then it made sense. grant you it's a smart key but still. Once I FINALLY figured that ONE little thing, it went together, still hard to hold when you have a bad hand, but I got it. then the whole smart key deal. I wanted to just leave it as is, but certain people seemed to not LIKE that so fine. figured that out but still needed to get another key as mine had broken HENCE a new doorknob and lock. other than that, It is all good. I've used Kwik locks before and still will.. Chalk this one up as a learning experience. But also, it would be nice if you all could ENLARGE your instructions and pictures. So, you have to add an extra page, at least WE the consumer would appreciate it....

Smaller handle

So I’m only giving this 4 stars because of the handle size. It’s a great door handle otherwise and I’d give it a 5 star. It’s not obvious about the handle size and there’s no description discussing there are two round door handle sizes. This is the smaller handle size.

Can' go wrong with Kwikset

I won't make the mistake of buying another brand again. These are sturdy, reliable, and easy to align.

I am glad I purchased. One thing I found annoying is I bought two sets (each with two locks). On one set, the direction the key went in was the same for both (smooth edge of they key down which is same as all my other locks). On the other set, one was smooth edge down and the other was smooth edge up. The instructions actually say "OK if flipped". No, it's not OK. I don't want the lock 8 inches below the deadbolt to not match the deadbolt or the other locks in the house. How about instead you make them all the same? I went on youtube and watched a video on how to pop out the lock barrel and flip it. There's a special tool to do it but can be managed without it. It just requires massive dexterity using 2 long thin screw drivers to simultaneously push in 3 springs at once. I really like the SmartKey feature since I was redoing 3 doors.

Knobs are fiddley. Poor QC on deadbolt

inexpensive but you get what you pay for. The knob set was very fiddley compared to a schlage. I had to screw in the bolts first on the keyed side before introducing in the hole and through the latch part...weird. Then mate the inside of the knobs and hook the head of the bolt and then tighten each side as you hold the base of the inside. keeping tension on the whole assembly from the inside. It similar to the technique of tightening a toogle bolt. What a pain! Oh and the deabolt! Fiddled with it for about 30 minutes. Then I realized there were no threads tapped into the cylinder. I think you can see in the picture. Rather than return the whole thing, I tapped new threads by screwing the old bolts into the cylinder with a screw gun and creating threads Do yourself a favor and strart the job by checking the deadbolt for theeads and aborting before you go any further if missing. Better yet spend the money on a schlage lock set
