Change your brakes!

These Kool Stop brake pads are the first non Shimano brake pads I've ever purchased, I replaced some old brittle XTR pads that were useless. These pads don't squeak or squeal and so far have given my bike (Marin Mt. Vision Pro) the best braking performance it's ever had.

Awesome upgrade over old hardened dry (black) pads.

I have raced the Ontario spring classic Paris to Ancaster several years now. This race features a downhill mudchute that is always super muddy, and this year with these pads was the first year I have actually been able to brake going down that mudslide. And the killer feature is they work in the dry as well, so no need to change pads for regular day-to-day riding (to be clear, I'm talking of the Dual-Compound version). Love it. Ordered several extras, but they seem to be fairly durable so looks like I've got several years supply.

Love Kool Stop pads!

I tried these in my Shimano BR-R550 canti brakes that I installed on my Surly Long Haul Trucker touring bike. Between the the two, new brakes and pads, I have some very serious stoppage. A good deal of the credit goes to the Kool Stop pads. Kool Stops are better than the stock Shimano pads by quite a lot.

Long life and good stopping power.

Very high quality pads but be aware they will not fit Kool Stop Tectonic brake holder.

Stops the bike, squeals without careful adjustment.

I've only ever tried Kool Stop and stock brake pads. Like all other Kool Stop pads, these have major stopping power... but they're also a pain to adjust just right to prevent squeal. That's bike brakes for ya.

Received a faulty pad

I ordered a couple pair of these and pulled the last one out of the package and found it to be unusable. The pad is misshapen and missing material.
