Apartment Life Essential
Our apartment stove fume extractor literally exhausts to the ceiling. I guess builder forgot the whole concept behind having an extractor was to exhaust to the outside. We bought this to reduce oil vapor and cooking fumes from spreading all over the apartment. Paired this with a DIY extractor setup (temporary) and so far fumes are not stinking up the place. My wife does mention she wishes the handle was a bit more ergonomic.

The screen is sturdy, does collect smells, and eliminates splatters from getting all over stove.

This Current Version is Cheaply Made
I had an earlier version of this splatter guard. It was constructed much better. This one has issues with how they fasten the bracing across the surface. It is crimped poorly to the outer frame. Mine came apart and I had to fix by crimping tighter. In addition, the handle came apart. It has an outer sleeve they glued on. It came unglued. I used some Goop glue to keep it in place. Very disappointed that they cut corners to increase profit on this product. The shield with carbon fiber cloth between the screens works well, suppressing smoke and odors, but again they weakened the wire screening, so it gets damaged/dented easily if something pokes it, like pan handle in a drawer.

No more splatters
The kitchen Aid splatter screen is heavier than others and keeps splatters at bay. I toss mine in the dishwasher

Great spatter screen filters oders
Keeps food from splatter onto stove keeps oil in pan and off my appliances. Filters smells and easy to clean.

Doesn't last long
I've used this three times and each time it is hand washed and is already starting to wear.

Smells still creep out.
Its bulky, doesnt capture smells as well as i had hoped. Metal gets very hot and after using a few times i just found it a hassle and went back to using a pot lid. It is coming apart already. It looks as described and matches photo but in reality it was a waste of money for me.

Do not buy, carbon filter melts after one use and smells like burnt plastic
After one use cooking a duck breast on a cat iron pan the middle of the screen appeared burnt and when smells like burnt plastic. Definitely not safe for regular use

Overstated ability to reduce odour
I do believe this product is decent but in actuality the reduction of odor after using our cast iron pan is still pretty bad. Yes it has reduced the odor but only a little. It has also cut down on splatter from the pan but anything placed over a pan cuts down on splatter.
