Great Quality Lamp!

I have to admit I was a little hesitant before purchasing this Kenroy Home floor lamp because I thought how much of a difference in quality could there really be between this higher priced lamp and those $30-40 floor lamps out there that look very similar. Fortunately I was able to compare the difference in quality side-by-side with a less expensive lamp. The same day the Kenroy Home lamp arrived from Amazon, I purchased a less expensive "Hampton Bay" floor lamp, of very similar style, from Home Depot. And I have to say there is a significan't difference in quality between the two. The differences I noticed were the following: 1) the metal tubing on the Kenroy Home is much thicker/sturdier, 2) the metal joints attaching the tubing together on the Kenroy are more robust (including what appeared to be better threading), 3) the top of the Kenroy is actually glass instead of plastic, 4) the Kenroy seems heavier (probably due to the more robust metal tubing). The packing is very good (hard to see how the lamp could get damaged in shipping unless someone drop kicks it out of the back of the delivery truck). It is a good quality lamp. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because the three-way lamp switch (as others have noted) seems a little delicate. But, since I'm using this lamp attached to a wall switch, I won't be touching the three-way switch very often. And I noticed the switch is essentially identical to the "Hampton Bay" (Home Depot) three-way switch. I was able to find a less expensive three-way LED bulb at Home Depot and it works beautifully! Just be aware that the lamp color looks more black than brown (hence the "oil rubbed" description).

Good quality lamp - heavy base and looks good - ...

Good quality lamp - heavy base and looks good - so many models I tried in past were cheap and lightweight. My only negative is I am not a fan of the 3-way switch - wish it was a dimmer dial instead of switch and it seems to have a loose action overall (hope it hold out). Took me awhile to fine a led 3-way bulb which was rather expensive.

Does the job

Haven't had any issues the switch as some people have complained. Basic but works well. Gives out a lot of indirect light, which is what we needed it for (lighting up a work area for putting together jig saw puzzles). You can put a 150W incandescent bulb in it which is nice for high quality powerful light (the much power wattage LEDs are nice, but their light quality sucks, so if you need accurate color rendition, you have to use an incandescent).

Pretty lamp - the soft off white glass has a lovely understated pattern. The base is sturdy. I wish it had a dimmer rather than a switch but otherwise it's lovely. It should be noted that the color is not dark polished bronze but dark brown and the base is black. Good value for theprice.

A solid purchase

For the price, it is a five star ranking, no question about it. Well packaged, easy to assemble. Have been using it now for 2 months in a bedroom. Functions very well, provides enough light for what we need. Has a nice sturdy quality to it. The lamp prior to it was a bit cheaper than this one, but the Kenroy is just a better lamp. No question about it, we would purchase again. Could pay much more for a lamp that would be more in style or elegant, but this is a solid, purchase.

Works with wall switch AND LED bulbs ... AND great QC

After trying many brands of sub-$100 LED torchieres, and returning them for inability to work with a wall switch, for broken joints, or arriving with a broken shade, I bit the bullet and moved upscale to the Franklin price range. Very pleased. This torchiere looks like a George Kovacs design, is electrically and mechanically sound (i.e., simple, and sturdy, respectively), and uses LED bulbs (rather than proprietary LED assemblies). Finally, it works with a wall switch and is packaged perfectly. The 3-wattage pattern is curious (low, high, medium), but not worth a demerit.

Was it Worth It???

Love this style of lamp! It was more than I wanted to spend for it... But in the end it fits the decor of what I wanted. All in All It was what I wanted and needed.

It's very wobbly, so it may fall over easily.

Yes, it's true that the base is heavy, but as you can see in their given picture of the lamp, the base is much smaller than the top of the lamp. The cord is set into the groove in the base and the base is leveled flat, but because the base is much smaller, the lamp is tall and the shade is a heavy glass, you could just touch the pole and it wobbles as if it will fall onto a baby if the baby touches it. Also, I don't think it's as bright as I thought it would be, even though I put a brand new 3-way bulb in, which is 50-100-150. At the 150 option, it's not that bright. May be due to the thick, heavy, ivory-colored glass shade. The base needs to be larger than the top to keep it from wobbling like it does. There are no babies around, but BEWARE!
