My Hens Love Them

They had a deal where I could get 3 for the price of two, which brought the price down to a more reasonable price per mat. We have used 2 and keeping the 3rd as a spare. No matter what anyone tells you, poultry need a little heat to live a healthy and comfortable life. These are safe and give off just enough heat to warm their feed and bottoms when it's too cold out.

Not warm enough for chicks

Not enough heat for day(+) old chicks. Used a 2 socks weighted with rice inside to weigh the heater as if there were chicks on it and it helped a little. If it’s not warm until something is on it then what tells the chicks to lay on it? Also…if it’s an option to hang on a wall… what produces the weight to activate it then? Nope, not for my lil feather babies!

Not warm enough

I'm trying to find good safe heaters for my budgies, but they are wayyyyy to stupid to figure out that they can go and sit right next to the heater to warm up. I was hoping the heater would be warm enough to heat up the area around it, but it's just not. I think it helps a little bit, but they're still all fluffed up and clearly cold. Gotta find some other heaters.

first one broken in freight - second one seems good

I should start by saying that I was skeptical from the beginning. I'm pretty terrified of a coop fire from a heating device. This is my first winter with chickens and I really wanted to avoid giving them supplemental heat as they are all pretty cold weather breeds. I'm in the San Juan mountains of the rockies at about 8000 ft. It got colder than usual in december and got to the negatives so I sprung for this thing. No fire yet, birds like it. Not hot, just a little warm when they sit on it.

Keeps Singleton Warm in Winter

Our single chicken likes to molt in the hardest part of winter (WHYYYY!?), and this pad has really kept her comfortable during temps well below freezing. We drilled a hole in her nesting box and arranged the pad under some Timothy hay. So far, no problems! Only a complaining chicken who wants the snow to melt. Definitely worth the investment!

Safe and effective peace of mind!

This product gives me peace of mind for my hens! I just recently purchased a 2nd one for the coop since we moved to a colder climate and our gals are going on 9 years old. We only have 3 hens and the coop is a converted wooden dog house. I keep a layer of wood shavings or chopped straw covering the pads, which are super easy to clean and move around. The pads are a very durable hard plastic and the coil wrapped cord has withstood the last two winters with no damage. Money well spent!

Good for pet chicken

I use this vertically mounted inside a cat carrier for a small bantam chicken that has feather issues ( she is naturally quite bald). I cover the carrier with towels on the outside leaving a small flap open so she can come and go. At 42 degF outside it will keep the carrier at about 60degF. Measured this with a fridge thermometer. Probably could make it a little warmer by covering it with better blankets. crossing fingers that this keeps working . Have had it going on a timer for 1 week.
