ActiveWear 15-20 mmHg Athletic Knee High... Jobst
I'll clarify 4 stars by saying the compression is rather tight. I was not sure what to expect on fit. They may be a little small or they really are suppose to be very tight. I doubt you will find a better made product, 5 starts there. Compared to two others I own these are very heavy duty and made to last.

These are the best
These socks are very good quality, and the Jobst size guidelines worked out fine for me. I recommend going to Jobst.com if you have any questions about proper fit. I have moderate swelling of my toes, feet and ankles, and my doctor recommended these would make my feet more comfortable during the day, and he was right. I found that the 20-30mmHg models were just a little too tight to be comfortable for many hours at a time, so I finally settled on 15-20mmHg, which I can wear all day and hardly know they are there. I don't wear standard socks any more - only compression knee-highs. Laundry care: I pin them together with a diaper pin, then wash them in a regular agitator washing machine in warm water with all my other whites, then I pull them out of the load and hang them separately to dry (Once a pair went thru the dryer by mistake, and they seem not to have been damaged in any way) Jobst of course is among the highest price compression socks available, and I'd say they are generally worth it. But, if like me, and you need to save some money, there are brands nearly as good for a lot less money. I'll be reviewing some of those soon after I've worn them a few months.

happy to have found these
My doctor recommended compression socks a few years ago when I had problems with swollen ankles and feet, but the original ones I got were like extra heavy-duty knee-high hose. Just trying to get them on was an aerobic workout, and while I would wear them under pants or a longish skirt, they weren't good for everyday wear. <--- note: my first experience with compression socks, not this kind. Keep reading. THESE socks, the Jobst ActiveWear are like knee-high athletic socks, much better for every day wear and work perfectly in an athletic shoe. They can't be pulled on as easily as regular socks but don't require near the effort that the thinner compression socks do. They work best in winter, as they are very warm. I was so pleased to find an alternative to the other. I have had them in both this 15-20 mmHg and in the 20-30. You can feel the difference, and if you need more compression, both are good.

No compression below ankle bone
No compression in foot, it's starts above the ankle bone my Dr. is not ok with that as your feet could swell.

Stays up, long wear, cool and comfortable
After trying a few other cheaper socks, I settled on Jobst Active Wear. They proved to be more comfortable than the other socks. However, their winning feature is that they stay up even during vigorous exercise. They are also good at wicking away perspiration and that keeps your legs cool on warm days. I like that the white socks look like athletic socks and that they are available in black for more formal outfits. They stand up to multiple washings and resit wear. I alway use an ankle-length sport sock over the Jobst. I believe this provides some protection from wear-and-tear on the Jobst sock. I also wash them in cold water in a small laundry bag to protect them during their ride through the washer and and then let them air dry (no dryer). After a few washing, some of the stitching on the top band may give way. This can easily be repaired with a few loose stitches using cotton thread.

Say No to Pitting Edema
My occupation requires that I stand, often immobile for long stretches of time. I am now 48, but have been utilizing compression socks for nearly 17 years . I have tried other brands, and the Jobst lighter compression athletic socks, as well as the soft- Diabetic ones. These are the real deal. i know they are expensive, but with three pair, I can get through the week, and I replace them annually. These are the heaviest of the Jobst "athletic" compression. If you are a compression virgin, try the lighter athletic first. If you don't stand all day, and want a very comfortable light compression sock, try the "sensitive" Jobst athletic socks designed primarily for diabetics. They are thicker, and softer, but offer less compression. I also use them on any flight greater than about 60 minutes. On a 10 hour flight to Europe, these were a leg saver.

Although these are a bit snugger than I would like they are very useful for the intended purpose of keeping the legs from swelling. Overall, it is better to have them a bit tight than too loose so no real problems here.

Buy these! So soft and comfortable!
These are excellent! So soft and comfortable! Very easy to get on and off, but still give great support. I throw them in the wash in a lingerie bag and even put them in the dryer. They have held up great. Also, they really helped my condition improve. I have been looking all over for these since I found my first pair on a clearance table a couple of years ago. I just ordered 3 pair. I hope I ordered the right size though, because I don't remember the size. I should have kept the box.
