Pretty good for what it is; more than single use
I bought this used--like new, probably one of the returns from people who tried it once and didn't like it. Their loss. The main complaint of this thing getting ridiculously hot is accurate, but that's par for the course for the most part. See any sandwich or waffle maker out there. It's not a huge deal unless you're pretty careless though. It's a very easy-to-use object; the sort of thing my seven-year-old needed instructions on just once. I do let him and his older siblings use it, but I'm the sort of mom who lets her kids use the stove too. If you've raised them to be careful, there's no reason a kid can't use this. They know not to go over capacity. Personally, I'm not crazy about the omelets this produces. The texture's not quite to my liking. But that's a personal preference thing, not a problem with the appliance. The kids quite like it, and they like the opportunity for creativity. Me, I've discovered it's excellent for cooking an egg over easy with even less effort than doing it on the stove. They basically steam themselves. My egg toast consumption has drastically increased, between this and Glucose Goddess's savory breakfast edict. I'm pretty sure you could make single serve Dutch babies or other pancakes in here too, or possibly the little microwavable mug cakes, though I haven't experimented that much yet. It's another of those "single use" gadgets that are actually pretty versatile. If you want weirdly-shaped chaffles, I bet you could do that.

Needs better designing
The Holstein Omelet maker is much like a waffle maker, but smaller and hardly constructed as well. After several uses I have developed some opinions about it, both good and bad. The Holstein Omelet Iron is certainly not the answer to making the perfect omelet, but what it does produce is almost certain to be accepted by the kids, and is unique and tasty, and fun to eat. The omelet really doesn't resemble an omelet that's made on a griddle or in a pan, and is more likely to be found on the breakfast menu at a McDonalds or some other take-out breakfast place. With some imagination, one can turn out an egg, cheese, and bacon omelet that can serve as an entire breakfast. But the results are second to a conventional omelet and it really takes more effort to make using the Holstein than simply rolling up an omelet on the griddle. But, who wants to fire up the Blackstone for one omelet? Probably nobody. But then again, using a frying pan would be quicker and easier than using the Holstein Omelet maker. The omelet maker is still more fun, and it's probably all up to how well your conventionally made omelets turn out. My first use was an immediate hit simply because I followed the directions exactly, and everything turned out well. On my second attempt however, I forgot some of the directions and ended up with egg all over the inside bottom shell of the omelet maker and all over the kitchen counter. This could be problematic enough for some people to either return it or throw the omelet maker away since the egg will harden and contaminate the inside of the bottom shell. However, the bottom plate can be removed for cleaning. This is not advised and you might wish you had never started. Doing so will also likely null and void any warrantees on the Omelet maker. Just be sure the omelet maker is unplugged from the power source so at least you can't be electrocuted. All of that nonsense can be avoided simply by following the directions listed in the Holstein Omelet Maker Manual: Rule #1, follow the directions exactly and you should get excellent results. If not, then read Rule #1 again. Rule #2, This iron is HOT! Only touch and lift the lid by the painted surfaces using an oven mitt. The top piece of chrome metal is also very HOT! and takes a long time to cool down after turning off the power. Avoid touching it! Rule #3, Never pour more than two eggs into one mold. This will allow for proper expansion without any of it running over the outside edges of the iron. Rule #4, This is not a toy and some kids are smart enough to learn how to use it correctly. I would caution that unless they can follow directions perfectly and are very mindful that this omelet maker can burn them, then it is better to store it out of sight and it is only operated by an adult. I also spent some time on how the design could be improved. This is far from being a professional piece of cooking equipment. With a little more thought in regard to what could go wrong, one additional provision in construction might prevent any overflow from the mold to run into the bottom shell. A built-in molded disk of high-temperature silicone situated under the bottom mold and creating a seal around the outer edge might be the fix to prevent liquid seepage into the bottom shell, but will probably still spill onto the kitchen counter.

Awesome would buy again
I’m disabled and sometimes struggle with cooking . I saw a Facebook creator called Freaking reviews review this so I had to try it and was not disappointed. It doesn’t take long to heat up ( around 2 minutes) and it takes 6 and a half minutes to cook my eggs. It’s not really a omelette but I don’t really care about that because I love eggs and will eat it anyway . I use 4 and the cheese and other ingredients as I want them and they come out great. I don’t really have any issues cleaning it. My only issue is getting the eggs out of it when it’s done. I’ve been using a fork to pull the one corner up to be able to stick a spatula under the eggs to pull them out . But I definitely enjoy this product

makes fab omelettes and easy peasy
I love this omelet maker. It’s easy to use and easy to clean The omelettes came me out perfect everytime and are fluffy. Yes you can make omelettes in a pan but when i try that they come out a mess so i am happy to take this easier way to make them why only 4 stars? Only because it doesn’t have an on/off switch. It’s annoying to have to plug/unplug everytime but otherwise no complaints. They don’t advertise it does so they didn’t mislead in any way it’s just a product design issue that irritates me. There is no preheating needed which i also really like about this maker. It takes just 6 minutes after you pour in your mixture. Pour, close lid, wait 6 minutes then enjoy. I use 3 large eggs plus other ingredients for the two omelettes and it works out perfectly. I put one or two teaspoonfuls of cream or milk in the mixture and that results in fluffy omelettes. Highly recommend

Waited ages for it to arrive only to find It came with a US plug and is 120v so unless you have a converter it’s useless. Amazon customer service brilliant though

A must have kitchen product
Excellent product that makes me wonder why I didn't buy an omelette maker years ago. Easy to make all kind of omelettes and not only, easy to clean and can make two omelettes in one go! I had a few questions for the seller and the customer service was impeccable! Completly recommend!
