Fabulous for curious little minds!

I bought this for my six year old grandson, it says for age 8+ on the box.I decided if it was too complicated for him then I would just slide it away for a year or so. He LOVES it! He’s able to follow the instructions and complete the builds and experiments with very minimal adult input. He has other Knex sets so he is familiar with construction format which helps. The ring bound instruction book is sturdy and attached to the box, so no danger of losing it. He has played with this way more than any other Christmas gift. A really intelligent and creative toy for a young and growing mind. I think if I’d paid the current $40 for the kit I might have thought that rather steep, however I was fortunate enough to spot it half price over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sale!

Great set for the kids... and adults!

I bought this for my daughter's 9th birthday, not thinking that it would be the "big" gift but I'm happy to say that she loves it and has played with it more than the others! We are big fans of STEAM and hands on learning and honestly my husband and I have had just as much fun creating and experimenting with this set as my kids have. I was a little worried about how good the quality of the pieces would be but I am pleasantly surprised with how durable they are. It's good to know that we....um I mean my kids, will be able to use this set over and over again instead of wasting money on one and done STEM projects like a lot of the ones I've purchased over the years. For instance the book that comes with it that explains how and why the difference experiences work and how to set them up and use them is spiral bound with a good thick cover. Inside you'll find things like "What is Pneumatics?" (air) & hydraulics (water), Troubleshooting, how to put together all of the 9 builds (in detail, with photos), the 18 "Think bigger" sections that continue the learning by asking questions and encouraging experimentation with the builds, but the coolest thing about the book is that through the whole thing there are tons of information bubbles relating to each build such as; the first rocket ever used, the first known submarine. There are a lot of questions that make the book more interactive. It's not too much though, especially if you choose to do one or two builds or experiments at a time. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and I'll be checking out this brand's other products.

Cool concept, flimsy syringe broke

I bought this for my 10-year old niece aspiring to be a scientist, I'm an engineer and thought she would enjoy playing with some physics. She jumped right in and enjoyed putting it together and getting the rocket to 'take off', which it didn't do with much power. I thought I'd show her to push the syringe faster to have it fly a little higher. Well, the large syringe plunger snapped off immediately. Upon inspecting to fix it I realize the structure was exTremely thin and flimsy with a cut out at the bottom which of course is where it broke. I can't imagine syringes like this are that expensive and why anyone would design them like that. I'm planning to reinforce it with some thicker plastic and superglue. She continued building the other projects using the smaller unbroken syringes. With one project she'd liked pushing the plunger and the mechanism (dump truck?) would flip but then would pull the plunger out to reset. I showed her if she moved the truck mechanism it would push the plunger back due to the air pressure staying in the tube. She loved that and was showing it off as a magic trick. Overall, cool concept, cheap quality syringes. It would be cool if they'd use more standard syringes so people could just replace them if they broke.

Days and weeks of entertainment

These are fun to build and operate. My 8 year old can assemble mostly by himself with minimal help/emotional support. Even after finishing all the modules, he rebuilt them once in a while.

Fun, educational and engaging STEM kit

As soon as the Moving Creations with Knex package arrived my boys were begging to start building. They quickly started with the first project and moved on to the more complex builds. This kit teaches kids about pneumatics and hydraulics while they build rocket launchers, submarines, and dump trucks. It features 9 different builds and 18 STEM experiments. The instructions were clear and easy to understand and there were also experiment pages to record findings and ask questions after each build. My boys were entertained for hours and played with it again the following day. They are already using the concepts to create their own moving creations!

Another FUN kit from hand2mind

We have been a big fan of hand2mind kits. I was so excited when I saw they released a new one. I have a 5 year old boy. This is rated for 8 and older but was still a ton of fun. He just needed help. It created a great bonding experience as we built the different models and tested them. I also like they include different facts throughout the book. It was a great way to introduce engineering as well as pneumatic and hydraulics.

Science and fun all in one!

Another Brilliant Minds hit!! This was a K’Nex Moving Creations kit. They got to build things that moved, launched, blasted off, catapulted, etc! The directions were easy to follow, and were written in such a way that not only could the kids understand them without help, but they were being taught actual scientific concepts like pneumatics and hydraulics! My favorite part about it? Their brains were engaged without a screen!
