Works fine but annoying tap to start
I really find it annoying how hard or long you have to tap the scale with your foot before you can get on it to weigh yourself.

Not as good as original index scale
I've been a long time Garmin user. I have watches and I use the app regularly. I was using an original index scale for about a year, but it was my roommates and he took it with him when he moved. I figured the Index S2 would be an improvement over the original, and it generally is, I suppose, except for a couple seemingly minor issues: it takes FOREVER to calculate weight, and it doesn't turn on very easily. I weight myself almost every single day, usually right before I shower. Almost every day I stand there naked, tapping the scale with my foot, then tapping harder, then practically stomping on it to get it to register that I want to use it. Then finally, it flashes to life. That bright little screen (which is lovely btw) shines up at my naked self and invites me to hop on. I step on, my irritation at my nude stomping waning. The numbers start flashing and moving (this part is quick) then it gets to my weight ***292.1***292.2***292.1***291.9***292.1***292.3***...FOREVER. Finally, after what seems like 5 minutes of holding my breath and watching the tenths of a pound taunt me from a less than flattering vantage point, the little green weight symbol flashes on to indicate it has settled on what it thinks I weigh. It drives me nuts. Other than that, great scale. Accurate, great screen, looks nice (I got the white and it does a good job of looking clean, unlike the old blue one I had), works great with the Garmin app which works great with apple health. Highly recommend if you don't mind sitting perfect still for far too long.

Great scale, but expensive!
Great scale, but the price is a little steep for what it is

Great scale, great data management, a bit temperamental for turn-on
It’s expensive. But it is incredibly convenient to not have to remember weight over time and to be able to look at graphs. The display is extremely easy to read. It automatically connects to wifi and makes your data available in your account and on the app. Garmin has an excellent privacy policy for your data. Some of the other manufacturers have horrible privacy policies (weight watchers, omron). Withings also has a good privacy policy. If you are using Garmin for fitness and exercise, this is the way to go. If you’re not using Garmin, Withings might be attractively less expensive. The weather function felt gimmicky but is actually kinda nice to have in the morning when you are figuring out what to wear for the temperature. It gives an icon for the overall weather, current temperature and high/low for the day. The scale also records body-fat%, water content, muscle mass and bone mass. These might have some validity but I take them with skepticism. They all bounce a bit up and down but you can visually average the graphs of each over time to see progress. The overall trend seems to be the most useful function for this data. Some have mentioned turn-on problems with the scale. Those are sort-of real. Sometimes it turns on for a second if I drop something on the floor nearby. Sometimes it doesn’t respond to a foot tap. It needs a solid thwap with your foot. At first I thought I had a problem but once I learned its preferred method to be turned on, it’s always been fine. This could definitely stand improvement though. It comes with wide feet to apply for carpeted floors, but as with any scale I have ever known, its repeatability seriously suffers on carpet. Thin industrial carpet might be ok. Thick household carpet really messes it up.

Garmin seems stuck in 20th century with this one
I've been using a Garmin watch for many years, so I always wanted a scale that would add more than a weight to my Connect app. I've been using Fitbit Aria and, by connecting through MyFitnessPal, I was able to pull the weights to Garmin Connect. However, it pulled only the weight, even though a body fat measurement was also available. When Garmin released their Index version 1, I got it, but encountered problems. First, the scale didn't stand firm on my bathroom tile floor even though Aria and another scale had no problems with it. Second, the weight fluctuation was significant, and again, that didn't happen with other scales I had. And I had to tap on the scale before measurement, not just step on it, like in Aria's case. So I returned it, disappointed, and decided that Garmin must be overwhelmed with negative reactions from the people and something more decent will be soon released. Well, it took for them 5 years and I finally bought their new Index S2. All that I see of the new features are the color display and the history chart. It is fine, but there are no improvements on the existing problems. I still have to tap the scales to start them, and this time it barely works at all. I have to tap and tap, maybe 5 times on different sections of the scale to make it respond. But sometimes it turns on by itself with me just walking by. Then, it doesn't stay flat again on my floor. I had to put some thick tape under the legs to level it. About the color display. It is awfully slow. It works as slow as some ancient computers from 1980s. When the image is scrolling it is hard to read, it is not smooth at all. You almost can see the pixels redrawing when the screen is scrolling, line by line. This is absolutely unacceptable in 2021, really, this is not a rendered 3D 4K picture, come on. Even, as I can recall, the previous version was faster. Seriously, there is a big problem with Garmin's engineers if they think this is not a shame to sell for such money. Maybe I keep getting broken scales time after time? I may try this time to replace it first to see if it's a systematic problem or not. I still give it one more star because it's doing its work somehow. Not sure about its precision. The weight is about 1% less that on Fitbit scale but the fat percentage is 2% more. Update: I received a replacement from Amazon. This time the scale doesn't even initialize, the display just blinks 9 times black-white repeatedly. Is this just me or Garmin's QA is not doing its work? Update2: Received the third one. This time it works better, the weight is on par with other scales, the tapping is more adequate (not ideal though still). I keep it for the reason I mentioned above, but still, Garmin, please, be less indifferent to the quality of your products.

Should have replaced my Aria sooner
Replaced an Aria that I was using with a Fitbit/My fitness pal workaround to get the data to my Training peaks etc. accounts. Should have switched sooner. Much better scale and updates quickly and seamlessly.

Garmin connect
Bien que j'aimais bien cette balance, il est impossible d'avoir, sur l'application Garmin connect, le poids en livres (LBS) et les kilomètres (KM) en même temps. C'est soit un ou l'autre. Vraiment dommage....
