Fortes Doria 18/10 Stainless Steel is the BEST Serving/Granny Fork Ever!

Anyone who cooks and bakes requires a Granny fork to either pick up items or flake and bake needs to purchase this sturdy fork. This particular fork is in my Top Ten List of favorite utensils to prepare things like pie dough (forget those stupid pastry cutters, they are a mess to clean and NOT as easy to use as a good, dependable Granny fork). Granny forks are just perfect! Some people will look at these forks and think they are meant only for serving items that need to be picked up by a fork and that is just fine, but ME? I look at the many other uses this utensil provides, right down to flaking tuna or mixing pie crust or scone ingredients, to name a couple. This utensil is Perfect ergonomically and its usability is whatever you may wish it to be. OH! If you pre-cook meat in spaghetti sauce and like it to come out absolutely perfect (as long as you enjoy crumbled meat in your Carbonara), this fork is "Perfecto!" Need I say more?

Go beautifully with my Mikasa Italian Countryside dishes

I was looking for an update of my old flatware from 1982. This is beautiful, very heavyweight, holds up well in the dishwasher so far and they compliment my Mikasa Italian Countryside dishes perfectly. I hope that the Doria set remains as timeless as the Mikasa dishes and is accessible for years to come. One small complaint, Fortessa stamps their logo in the stainless steel on the front of the flatware and it comes across as excessive. Perhaps if they had stamped the back of the pieces or left it off, but it mars the beauty and shine of their artwork, in my opinion.

Excelled at the first 2-week camping trip

Although heavy, (* NOT for Gram-Weanies *) It is sturdy enough to clean/scrape cooked-on (burned) stew from cast iron dutch ovens. Larger than you might think. Worked well at turning hash-browns -- a metal spatula not being available. Long enough to keep fingers out of deep pots. Works as a serving spoon as well as an eating utensil. If you only have one utensil -- this is it.

Much heavier than expected

These are beautiful and very well made. Super heavy and larger than I expected. I did not measure and was a bit surprised and delighted when I opened them. A great slotted serving spoon for large dishes.

Visually appealing but not functional

This flatware is extremely well-made and visually arresting. But the “Upside down” style of soup spoon is so wide that I knew it would never fit in my mouth without serious effort. So it’s been returned.

Lovely detail, style, and quality...

I love this set! It looks just as it does in photos and have a nice weight to them... The knife in the set has a nice balance, and the teeth cut nicely... I was a bit worried about the spoons - I like the look of them but wasn't sure if the squared off end would be awkward or annoying... It's not though, and I may even like the squared off shape better than the more usual rounded or pointed shape... The quality is great, the price is fair, and this set will work well as an everyday and/or special occasion set...
