Two inch maximum mattress height

We bought this in December 2019 for my now-ten-month-old. We have an older child who, at over two years old, still slept in a tiny corner of his standard sized crib and still loved his pack n play when we traveled. So we felt confident that a mini crib would work well and was perfect for our smaller nursery. Initially, I was disappointed by the lightweight feel of everything upon unboxing. I had been hoping for something as sturdy feeling as a standard crib. The side rail pieces feel flimsier and lighter than that. But, the mattress support piece is a solid board and adds the necessary weight to make this a safe piece of furniture. There were some areas where the finish wasn’t complete or perfect, along with some scratches, dents, and chips. None was overly noticeable on the “natural” wood finish, and I haven’t noticed them since putting the crib together. This looks beautiful in our space and I’m happy with it overall. HOWEVER! I have one huge complaint. Knowing this was going to be a full-time bed for my baby for hopefully two years, I decided to buy a proper mattress right away. Honestly, the one it came with had all the potential of working fine. It seems really similar to pack n play mattresses, which, as I’ve said, my two-year-old still slept fine on when traveling. But my older son is a terrible sleeper, and I knew if my second baby was having trouble, the first thing I would question was the mattress. And I knew I would spend approximately $1 billion in 2am Amazon purchases hoping to solve my baby’s sleep problems. So, good mattress from the get-go. The problem: nowhere, on Amazon’s product description, Dream On Me’s website, or any other product description I read, did it state that: THERE IS A TWO INCH MAXIMUM HEIGHT FOR ANY MATTRESS USED WITH THIS CRIB. This is clearly stated in huge letters on the outside of the box and is essential information for purchasers! I ordered a five-inch mattress at the same time as the crib and was unable to return it. The reason for this limit is immediately obvious - a taller mattress is unsafe because it raises baby too close to the top of the rails and creates a fall hazard. At first, we were able to simply use a lower setting since the height is adjustable. Now that my daughter is ten months old, the mattress is on its lowest height. As soon as she starts to pull herself to standing (most babies already can at ten months) she will be way too high up on the rails to be safe. Even at 50th percentile height, it’s clear she’ll be too tall. Unfortunately, though my husband is quite handy, I don’t think we will even be able to adapt the crib by drilling new, lower holes to lower the mattress because of how the mattress support board is secured and the location of the joints and additional pre-drilled holes that are only used for the other non-crib configurations (see my photos.) Drilling new holes also is unlikely to work because it’s likely to create a pinch hazard between the top of the mattress and the bottom of the rails, especially since the horizontal rails curve. Not to mention adapting a crib frame is inherently unwise since it’s not safety tested. So, when my baby starts standing any day now, I’ll have to either ditch the nice mattress I bought and put the flimsy one in (my baby is likely to be pretty mad about that since she’s used to a much better standard) or ditch this crib. Super bummer, since both were equally expensive. Definitely avoidable if there had been proper information in the product description.

Nice!

Looks beautiful. Instructions a bit complicated. Some difficulty getting baby in and out of the crib due to height of the bed position. Structure/design on top of rail/sides help with it. Love the color. We bought a separate mattress. The one that came with was to flimsy and not thick enough.

Cute, but doesn’t convert into twin bed

Easy to assemble, cute and perfect for a small room or a nursery. The main problem with this mini crib is that they do not sell conversion kit for turning it into a twin bed and the full size bed rails do not fit as I figured that out after putting the bed rails together after buying the conversion kit because it said universal, but unfortunately it did not fit and I am returning the conversion kit. When I say it does not fit, I mean that nothing aligns as the head bored and foot board are way to small for the “universal bed rails”. They are not universal at all.

Cute and definitely mini

This crib is great for small spaces. I have twins and wanted them to share a crib for the first few months. However, this crib is way too small for that. So, I will be ordering a second one. I live in Korea, so reside in a high-rise. The crib is small enough that I can fit two cribs in the room, but it is not big enough for two 3 month old babies to safely sleep in just one crib. The downside is that with just one baby in the crib, her arms and legs go through the spaces. I'm not sure how to remedy that without using bumpers. Since bumpers aren't recommended or deemed as safe, I'm not sure what to do. I love the crib but wish the spaces between each bar weren't wide enough for chunky baby limbs to get stuck.

The company behind the product makes all the difference

The crib went together pretty well. The hardware seems reliable and easy to install. I did run into one of the side rails being drilled out not too great. I reached out to the manufacturer for a replacement part. I will start by saying this company has exceeded any customer service I have dealt with. Chick fila seems like slackers compared to this company. Prompt response and knowledgeable conversation related to my issue. They went out of their way to get the correct part and ship it to me. They took the part from an existing package to make sure I was able to receive it quickly. My wife had a lot of anxiety about which crib to select and honestly I think any product by this company would have been a great choice. I can't say if a mini crib is right for you but dream on me will be my child's furniture company for sure!

Safety and construction

Use 2 days a week. GRANDDAUGHTER has only pulled up to stand for past 3 weeks and I just saw where she has mouth on top rail the paint is peeling. I don't know what I am going to do. Can't let her eat paint. Very disappointed because it is perfect size and looks so good. Purchased last Fall so am sure can't get refund.☹️????

Good buy!

Very nice crib. Came on time, almost. (the mail truck coming to where we live slid onto it's side and delayed the delivery somewhat, but that was Canada Post, not the company or Amazons fault.) The crib is very lightweight and easy to move around, is a nice colour (warm dark brown with reddish tones.), and was fairly easy to assemble. There were a LOT of warning stickers, all on the outsides of the crib, so they weren't hideable, you have to actually remove them. They are hard to get off but I just used my blow dryer on low warm, enough to heat the glue, then peeled them off at about 90 degrees. Any residue glue I just laid an olive oil soaked paper towel over, let it sit for like 30 seconds, then wipe away with maybe just a little rubbing. Didn't damage the finish and eventually got them all off.

Great small crib

Great small crib. It is more fitted to an apartment or condo because it is smaller than an average crib. It seems very well built and sturdy. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5 because it took 9 days delivery instead of 2 days. I have to return one because they have to send me another one because Amazon we're not sure if the first one they sent was lost. Amazon tried their best to keep me happy but it was just frustrating that both cribs that they sent did not arrive on time because it is a gift for my brother-in-law's kid.

Don't waste your money!

Very nice crib, however I'd like to know if anyone giving it 5 stars has actually tried to convert it. To convert it to a twin, or a toddler bed require the purchase of additional parts, as listed in the owners manual (with pictures and part numbers!). I contacted the company to order these parts, I wanted to switch it to a twin bed. THESE PARTS DO NOT EXIST! Apparently (according to customer service) the manual was written before the manufacturing of the beds and parts. This bed frame they say works is not cheap, plus add on the shipping! Total waste, I am so very disappointed.

Va de acuerdo al precio

La calidad del producto va en relación al precio que se paga por él, material de calidad estandar, nada lujoso, traía dos raspones de pintura, supongo por el manejo al transportarlo, nada de gravedad. Fácil de armar, y cuenta con todo lo necesario para ello.

very cute little crib the only downside was I got stuck with white...I was afraid will get scuffed up and dirty really fast but to my surprise it has held up pretty well.
