Excellent deal, great product

Plain and simple: You couldn't find a better value for the price. I had been using a rigid cane for several years, when I finally wore through the rubber foot. I decided that was the perfect motivation to go cane shopping. Unfortunatley, I hadn't even thought to check Amazon. I did some googling, and found a couple medical supply sites, and ordered several folding canes. Sadly, I was quoted a 2-week delivery time. Being worried about scarring my flooring with my old cane, I decided to jump on Amazon and see what I could find (and use my Amazon Prime membership to get it here quickly). I found this cane and figured for $12, I'm sure it will last the 2 weeks until the other canes arrive. When the other canes did arrive, I found this cane to be of the best quality (quite a feat, since some of the others were $50 canes). I've been so happy with this cane, that I ordered one for my grandfather, after hearing he was having a little trouble getting around. I'm 6'2", 250lbs. He's 5'4", 140lbs. And we both find this cane to be very comfortable. Considering our different sizes, I was blown away that we both like this cane. I've since ordered another of these canes that I keep in the car as a backup, just in case. A few notes: The "carrying case" is just cheap clear vinyl. If you need a carrying case that can take some abuse, you'll want to look into something else. Some folks mentioned that the cane is a bit "squirmish" when folded up, and that's true. With the elastic shock-cord running down the middle of it, it "wants" to be unfolded. It is both a blessing and a curse. On the plus side: to unfold the cane, all you have to do is let it unfold itself. On the negative side: it is a bit difficult to keep "calmed down" while folded up. However, I've found this to be true of all of the folding canes I've purchased, regardless of the brand name or quality-level. I recommend adding a nylon or Velcro strap to it when it's folded up. So, considering the price, you can't find a better value. UPDATE January 2 2012: I've been so happy with this cane, that I felt the need to give it more praise. I now own half a dozen of these canes. I keep one in all of my relatives cars (as a backup), and an additional one with an ice-spike tip for those slippery winter days. And to sweeten the deal, it seems the price has gone down a little since my original purchase. At this price, how can you afford not to keep a few of these around the house/car? With my large hands, the handle isn't the most comfortable I've sampled, but as a backup, it's more than sufficient. I strongly recommended product.

Hollow noise

This cane worked very well for me as I transitioned from a walker after hip surgery. It is lightweight and sturdy. The handle was comfortable, the floor grip very stable, and I loved the rich bronze color. The only thing that started to wear on me was a hollow sound when I used it on our tile flooring. Otherwise a really nice cane, it got me thru a tough time.

nice, adjustable, folding cane

This is my first cane so I cannot compare it against other canes. I'll just provide some information that's not listed. This folding cane adjusts from 33" to 37 1/2". It disconnects into four sections with the adjustable section on the thickest part at the top. There are five holes facing the rear of the cane located on the top adjustable portion. The length can easily be adjusted by pressing a small 1/4" spring-pressured button in to release it from its position and move it to another position. The handle is made of hard plastic. The contour is nice as it nicely fits under the hand. The tip portion of the cane that comes in contact with the ground is a rubber material. The cane is light; I compared it against some canned foods from 14 to 16 ounces, and I would guess it is in that range towards the lower weight. The "attractive carrying case" is just a thin plastic, see-through pouch. The cane's color is medium bronze. Model number is 1316BZ. Note that there should be three plastic grommets, one each on the three lower section. The grommets serve to protect the cord from rubbing against the metal tubes. Without it the cord will wear out quicker and the cane will become useless without it. The one I received from Amazon was a returned unit missing two grommets, but I kept it anyway because I needed to use it immediately. Be sure to inspect your cane for the grommets. For the price, adjustable and folding features, and light weight, I'm happy with it. One reason I chose this one over other models was because it was sold by Amazon instead of a third-party vendor selling through Amazon.

Decent cane for the price

It was actually better than I expected. I have another foldable cane which I hate using because it is so flimsy - not only does it wobble, it actually bends if I need to put my full weight on it. This one is much more sturdy, and seems to handle the weight well. It isn't perfect, but I'd say it is the best in its class so far. The case and holder are also a nice touch although I don't use them myself.

Terrible Handle

The handle design for this cane is absolutely terrible. The cane itself is very sturdy, but the handle is not designed for human use. It will do some serious damage to your baby finger.

Excellent value for money

Seems durable and it easily fits in a briefcase/messenger bag. Very handy for sudden tendonitis/gout/plantar faciatis issues. A great deal for under $30.

It feels sturdy and safe. I like the look of it and the fact that it is so compact, fits easily into a medium sized purse.
