1916. aastal asutatud ettevõte asub Marylandi osariigis Chestertownis.

Solid, but vulnerable to drop damage; male connector knurled ring is a bit narrow
I have one of these connectors attached at the water spigot and one at the spray end of the hose. That second connector might and eventually will get dropped/dragged over concrete. I try to be careful, but this is just the reality if you unwind your hose over a concrete driveway. What prompted me to write this review was the fact that my previous quick-connects had a plastic rings around them that protected them from such damage. They had their own share of problems, and I like these Dixon's better, but I am missing those rings. They could also make attaching the male connector easier. Otherwise, it can be hard to grab the narrow knurled brass ring once the connector is threaded in. Now, to the good. These connectors are made of solid brass, they are not too bulky (ever tried quick connects by ELEY corporation?), and use special washers to seal the connection. While these washers are not as common as garden hose washers, they can still be purchased separately. My previous quick connects used o-rings instead of washers: good luck changing those once they start leaking! One thing I realized is that the male connectors from my previous quick connects still fit these. Great, I need more male connectors since I have some attached to and stored with different gizmos that can potentially be connected to the garden hose. Lastly, I will mention that if you are in the business of changing the attachments on your hose while the water is running, it may be worth it to get an inline shut-off valve to be installed at the spray end of the hose: this way there is no need to run back to the spigot to shut off the water. There some thumb controlled valves on Amazon that look promising.

What's in a name?
I expected a higher quality disconnect from a brand name like Dixon. This piece felt like every other cheap import. The pressure washer quick disconnect set I bought from Lowe's had much higher material and construction qualities.

50% price increase in last 2 years
These were already the "premium" choice for hose quick connects, and they work great, possibly the best thing out there that's commonly available, but it's hard to forgive price gouging. Granted it's a small item, but I just checked my history and the price for these was holding steady for several years before increasing 50% over the last two years. Other websites have them for much less but then there's shipping...

Absolutely NO LEAK year after year
Edit: 5 yrs later one of the female fittings displays signs of misfitting/dripping. Upon close inspection I found the connector's special shaped (dual layers) rubber washer losing the seal. The replacement washer was an easy find and costs only a few cents. Search "500QCSG" from wink hose warehouse wink. Edit: Some may find it hard to disconnect the fitting -- release the water pressures before attempting to disconnect. Remember the connection is a tight seal. This is the real deal. I have purchased a few Dixon's fittings over the last 5 years. The first one installed outdoor under the California scourging sun/mild winter year after year. Every time it click-connects, it's a firm seal. Never a time should I be concerned about water dripping and wetting my pants/sleeves. In one of my setup it's connected to a heavy long-pole sprayer and no sweat. Just thinking I had wasted so much money on big-box stores' items that never last past winter. Be aware of also another cheaper knockoff fitting that looks the same to Dixon (full brass sold on Amazon but made in China. Yeah, lasted only for a summer - one leaked and another one cracked).

Solid Construction. Once connected, no leaks or drips.
When this quick-connect arrived, I was fairly certain this was a good purchase. Having used it for five months, I'm convinced. * The metal is not flimsy, it is well constructed. * The male and female pieces fit together easily and come apart well. * Once everything has clicked into place, I've experienced no leaking. * The metal sleeve for connecting and disconnecting moves freely (when there is no pressure in the line). * Whether intended or not, there seems to be a safety feature: it is nearly impossible to disconnect when the line is under pressure. I have jury-rigged a system to make a portable dishwasher out of a cabinet based unit. For ease-of-use this required setting up a quick disconnect system for the water supply. The unit is connected and disconnected several times a week -- and sometimes two or three times in a day. I tried a variety of inexpensive and more expensive plastic quick disconnects. They either outright failed or developed slow leaks. This was not acceptable for a connector inside the house. So I decided to try a metal fitting and this one had good ratings. The one down-side for my use was the difficulty of disconnecting a line under pressure. After turning off the supply valve, the line between the dishwasher and supply was still pressurized -- so I could easily connect but not disconnect. I had to install an extra pressure release point in my connection system to make disconnecting work well. Having done that, I've been thrilled with this unit.
