Functional and comfortable

I love the jogger style pants because they’re so functional for hiking. The waist band is wide so it’s comfortable and it doesn’t create love handles if worn higher or lower. I wore these for a week of pretty rough terrain and the material held up well, no rips that I’ve noticed. I’d recommend them.

Old Model

Pros: Lightweight yet substantial fabric. Quick dry, comfortably stretchy. Deep, secure zipper. Elastic waistband nicely designed for smooth appearance. Cons: Overly tight cuffs, despite my slim ankles. I expected these to be identical to the joggers by the same name on the Columbia website. They must be an older model because the pockets are different, which I didn't notice by looking at the product photo. Unlike the current Columbia model, on these pants the zipper pockets are placed on the outermost part of the hip. This is fine for functionality but couldn't be more unflattering as visual bulk is added just where I would want a smoother line for a slim look. On the current model on the Columbia website, the pocket was moved more to the front at an angle for a sleeker look. At 5'3", 117 lbs I took size XS for perfect fit in the waist and hips. But, they were much too long. I had a tailor remove the cuffs which were too tight anyways and sew a seam, and that created the perfect length. Ideally though I would not have to pay for alteration of a newly purchased item.
