Warning! Light set may need to be modified.

These lights are designed to be mounted vertically, IOW on the wall of the house. If you want to mount them under the eaves (which is not that abnormal a location), the motion sensor cannot be aligned properly. We had to remove the motion sensor from the light set and attach it to the junction box in order to properly align it for detection. Once we finished the installation and started testing, it appears that the range of the motion detector is about 10 or 15 feet maximum. While this is sufficient for my needs, I wish it had a longer range. UPDATE: I have now tested these lights at night, and the range is much farther than it seemed when testing in the daylight in test mode. I can walk down the alley behind our house, and the lights trigger, and I'm at least 20' away. I really like the fact that the lights aren't triggered by my dogs. Both are small dogs, around 15 pounds, and they use a doggy door to go out. The lights never trigger when they go out, but as soon as I walk out on the patio, the lights come one. I'm very happy with the results of these lights, so I'm bumping my review up from a 3 to a 4.

Great fixture with very Big Detection Range

Great unit and the Detection area is Enormous , the only Negitive for me is when you install the outer shades that come with the light fixture a normal outside spotlight bulb will be recessed into the shade by like 1-1/2 So you don’t get the full effect of the light bulb , I just removed the shades and problem was solved I have been useing a great LED light bulb it’s called the Night Chaser by GE , they are 250 watts of bright bright Daylight light. They use the same amount electricity as a 40 watt convential bulb. The bulbs are a bit pricey but they will last 15 yrs or more, with no flickers. I look at the extra expense as insurance, the price of you and your Families safet and security. I have 4 outside fixtures all with the Night Chaser bulbs in them.

Worked great for 6 years- wish it was longer

Paired with LED floodlamps, this worked great for 6 years. Photo attached seems to show the squiggle wire in the photosensor discolored. Lamps are still fine - tested in other fixture. New Hampshire weather is tough on exposed automatic lights. About 5 years is the average of what I have come to expect automatic lights to last. Installed a second set in a different side of house that have been working fine for 2 years. Lights are difficult to get to so I would want them to last longer.

Works Perfectly

I ordered this to replace the 15 year old motion lights that the house painters broke. Same brand and still worked, but the motion lens cover had been damaged. The new set works even better and the range and sensitivity settings are quite accurate. The shrouds for the bulbs are large enough to accomodate the newer LED floodlights. The shrouds can also be removed if needed and the sockets are deep enough to keep the rain out. Easy to install and adjust. Would order again but will probably never need another set. Good quality and value.

Works good and easy to set the sensitivity

Easy installation, and works just as described. I used a pair of LED bulbs bought at a local discount store (GTM), so now it's an LED motion activated security light. I installed it on the side of the house and I was able to tune the sensitivity pretty easily so that it doesn't go off when cars drive by, but it will if someone or something is walking up towards the house or as soon as someone rounds the corner of the house from the front yard. And because it's got a wide angle of detection, it turns on as soon as I round the corner from the back yard as well, so good when I'm putting out the trash. I bought this light to replace one of those other LED security lights that have the built-in (un-replaceable) bulbs. That other light was junk. The thing worked fine for a while and just like this one, it only activated after dark so that was good, but the bulbs died after only 3 years. I was able to get my $ back (Costco purchase) because it had a 5 year warrantee, but the marketing on the packaging for that other light was touting how I'd save so much $$$ because it uses less energy and should last 22 years... Anyway this time around, I'll be able to change out the bulbs whenever they die and just put some new ones back in, rather than having to un-install and buy a whole new light fixture.

For the price these are quite good. I am pleased with these. They do sense motion well and are adjustable. They come on when they should, not when they feel like it. PROS * inexpensive for what you get. *They actually work as advertised, A rare thing these days. *They are metal. The sensitivity is infinitely adjustable so you can get it the way you need it. *Several duration adjustments and a test mode. * includes everything I needed. *The sensor can be moved on its stalk to aim it where you need it a little. *The wide angle sensor helps it to cover a larger area. *The lamp pods can be aims where you need the light. CONS *It is a little tricky to aim the lamp pods and tighten them because the manufacture, while sturdy, is not really precise. Not a real problem and expected at that price. These would be good even if they cost a bit more. I bought other brands and had to send them back but these worked right out of the box. I am very pleased with them.

These were easy to install and work great

These were easy to install and work great. I could not find a fixture that would function properly installing them under the eaves of my garage. I had checked the big stores, Home Depot, etc., they are all for wall mount. I didn't want to move my wiring, install new boxes, and have to patch the eaves where my existing bad fixtures were installed. These work in the under eave mount position as stated. The photo cell and motion detectors function great! I have spent much more money on other fixtures that the photo cells don't work properly, find lights on during the day. I also didn't want to spend huge bucks on the fixed LED floodlights, so I simply bought LED bulbs for the fixtures. This way the bulbs can be replaced.
