OEM B&S Carburetor
This has brought my 2002 model year Briggs & Stratton 6 HP Intek OHV engine back to life. The original carburetor throttle plate shaft has egged out causing the engine to run lean after 287.6 hours of runtime. The cheap Chinese carburetors did not have the primer circuit that this OEM carburetor has. Pricey than those, but this replaces the OEM carburetor exactly.

John Deere JS63C Bring new life back to your B&S 6.75 engine
Having a 18yr old mower with an otherwise great shape engine & mower mechanicals, hot restarts had graduated last week from a growing nuisance to a royal pain requiring mower to cool off 10-15 min before restarting with excess fuel/sign of flooding - even though float level correct with clean filtered fuel, no debris or gum in carb, etc.. Plus n the last few years I had noticed the mower was more sensitive to spark plug gap and noticeable exhaust fume smell in areas with cross ventilation or no breeze. Thanks to a great price & quick delivery this genuine & correct B&S replacement carburetor for the 6.75 literally put new life back into the engine. Now one pull cold & hot starts with no indication of flooding when restarted in the heat of the day (cold starts with correct number of bulb primes related to current ambient temp). Less full consumption & smooth running engine again that I had believed was that bad to begin with - but what a difference, subtle but distinct for one that is sensitive to that sort of thing. Old carb definitely suffered from throttle shaft wear, plus one of the 2 welch plugs that fit vertically above the fuel bowl had become cocked for gosh only knows how long that existed - as this can't been seen on the mower without a mirror and/or removing the float and knowing to inspect that. Anyway what a satisfying repair complimented with some peace of mind and no more reluctance to starting the mower. Given the materials in this replacement's throttle mechanism - this should last a least as long as the OEM if not longer - even though manufactured now in china. Only installation issue installing was the 1 bolt retaining the metal heat shield to the engine block (there's a supplied gasket located behind this). This bolt required treating like a well seized exhaust manifold bolt - Loosen (or sometimes tighten) the smallest amount to get the bolt broken loosed d, then turn back the opposite direction until the bolt starts to seize again. Go back and forth until the bolt can be rotated a little further each time. Tedious but goes pretty quick within a couple of mins and saves the bolt and having to retrieve a broken off bolt in the aluminum cylinder. BTW be sure to verify replacement carb part number with the B&S parts like for your mower & engine type.

Good, but . .
Installation was straightforward, no adjustments were needed. There were several gaskets, but the correct one was there. The mower ran great after the new carburetor was installed. However, as others have said, the box it was in was fine for putting on a shelf. Amazon sent it in a padded envelope and the box opened, was mashed, and the carburetor and all its gaskets were loose in the envelope. B&S did fine, Amazon, not so much so.

Perfect fit and inexpensive fix
Put this on a lawnmower to get it running. Sold it two days later. (Broken lawnmower = $25-50. Fixed lawnmower = $125.) Spent less than $20.

Plastic lever broken on arrival
This was to replace the carburetor on a 1999 DR string trimmer/mower. It would have been a perfect fit. But as others have mentioned, the item arrived in the thin cardboard shelf box, tossed into a plastic bag. Since that plastic lever sticks out as the most prominent point on the carburetor, it was broken. Rather than bother returning, wait 8 more days for another one, and risk it be broken also, I just used the gaskets, float, bowl and needle of the replacement order, and worked extra hard to clean up the part of the old carburetor which has a metal lever. It worked fine. At least I learned something about cleaning (when all else fails, try vinegar soak). My main complaint is with shipping. I could not find another carburetor anywhere else with a metal lever.

No choice but to buy OEM but it works
I'm always on the receiving end of free equipment that won't run. It's almost always a gummed up carburetor. Normally I just buy one of those cheap Chinese carbs and be done with it, but this particular model doesn't have a Chinese knockoff for some reason. I bought an OEM rebuild kit but it still wouldn't run, so I bit the bullet and paid the premium for a new OEM carb. It works great, I just wish it didn't cost nearly $50...

Perfect fit
Put it on fired it up running better than it's ever done on a 6.5 hp intek engine even though there's no choke on it don't need one fired up straight away we'll pleased glad I bought the genuine carb and not one of the cheap Chinese copies you only get what you pay for
