Great Replacement for Old Style
I got tired of the traditional style of valves leaking over time or not shutting off completely so I swapped them all to this kind. I love the quarter turn on/off.

But this over SharkBite, you won't regret it.
This product is awesome. It fits over your old compression outlet so really you only need to remove and replace the body but leaves the tighten nut and compression ring from before. I'd clean as much as possible of any old debris and covers the compression ring and all of what you're going to tighten back with some Allstar Performance ALL14282 1/2" x 260' Pipe Thread Tape or any brand you like to add extra leak protected. Believe me, you'll need it. If possible, give it an extra mm of the thread tape for more leak protection over the mouth ring so that when you go and put in it a new body, there won't be a leak. DON'T leaves the mouth expose is what I'm saying. My advice is when you use the tape, go in the same direction that you're nut is going to be when tighten down and when you go and put in the body, rotates it along the direction of the tape. You don't want to go the opposite direction of the tape. Then tighten down the nut and you should be fine. I'd buy this over the SharkBite Stop Valve because those are not one size fits all. All of your PEX or CPVC in your home may not fits it all even if they are all the same brand and size. My hot water tube from up stair did fit like the others but it still leaks. Tried using several but each one still leaks. I tried covering the body with tread tape and they still leak. So basically, I highly recommend replacing your stop valve with this product. Make sure you followed how I did it and you should not worry about it for another 25 years. I know I won't because I just replaced old stop valves that are coming up to 25 year old.

works good
It may be hard to remove the old ring if you do not have a puller. But once installed work good

Good Quality Ball Valve
The originally installed "screw-in" type shut-off valves in our house didn't seem to work very well, if at all, when they were really needed. We have been replacing all of them with ball type valves. Ball valves require just a 1/4 turn to turn on or off, and a quick visual inspection tell you whether it's on or off. The brass components of this valve are much better quality than the cheap valves installed by our home builder. The biggest challenge to installation may be the need to remove a old compression ring from the 1/2" copper pipe coming out of the wall or floor. Cut the old ring off if you have enough pipe to work with. Alternatively, try using the old compression ring with the old valve nut (it should be the identical size and thread of your new valve).
