Wiring is backward (yes i verified this)

These are decent lights. I have them as tail lights on a classic truck (1946 ford 2-Ton). However, there are couple problems that knocked off a star. Pros: - They actually have a metal housing! That alone is worth 3 stars - Bright and otherwise well made (but see below) - classic look Cons: - The wiring instructions say “Black wire is tail light, Red wire is stop/turn”. On my units, this was reversed! Apparently on the ones I received black is turn and red is tail. I got through a rather complicated pigtail arrangement with the little 5” wire leads and another light fixture, only to find out the tail light was way too bright and the turn signal was hardly perceptible… So, I recommend verifying the wiring connections in the light before potentially wasting time and crimp connectors - Ground contact is pretty terrible, do yourself a favor a run a separate ground wire directly from the light case (I sunk a sheet metal screw in from the back) - There is no gasket on the lens - OK, for $7 no biggie, just cut a circle of foam rubber to fit in the lip, but without it these lights fill will water in short order.

Pleasantly surprised

These taillights are a great bargain for the price. They certainly aren't the quality of the original taillights but they are identical as far as design, fit & function. I don't know how long they would last on the jeep because I actually just bought them for the lenses. It was cheaper to buy the complete taillight assemblies than it was for just the lenses. So I have installed them onto my off road camping trailer but put the new lenses on my jeep and the old ones on the trailer. But they work great and are nice and bright even with the old lenses swapped onto them. They won't be used as often on the trailer as they would have on the jeep but they are nice and bright and function fine on the trailer so a great deal

Good trailer lights

Metal housing. Good overall light. There is no seal between jouseonf and lense so I used gasket maker to make it water tight. I used two left hand lights for my trailer.
