Needs an extra metal bar or something to make sturdy.

Product fits into spreader well and does the job, but bends and stays deformed with any weight on it (like clumped fertilizer). I had to zip-tie a metal bar across the center and that fixed the issue.

For Dolomite Lime....

I bought this grate, and this spreader also, specifically for the purpose of spreading hundreds of pounds of dolomite lime each year (my soil is very acidic) - very glad to have the grate to sort out the large "rocks" that would ordinarily jam the spreader. It works well. Gets a little bent sometimes, but I just flip it around and I'm back in business.

only held in position by gravity or the materials

If there were clips that held it in place when material get low it may not bounce around and protect the agitator clip from possible damage or worst. can modified yourself if you reveres the mounting bolts and add a narrow lock nut and a wingnut with a washer on each side.
