waist is smaller than typical Graduate

This smaller waist is a positive "negative"! Typically Graduate fit me (athletic/slender) very loose in the waist and I have to downsize to wear them without a belt. So they end up being a skinny fit -- which is not what I am looking for. My typical Graduate size of 32 I could not button in these corduroy , so I returned for 33. I have tried the Ives athletic fit in the past and they are a goofy cut, with the legs narrowing down from the knees (does not look modern, but more like an LLBean pant your grandfather would wear).
